Joan Jett
recorded a popular version of you don’t own me for her 1981 album Bad
Reputation. Jett certainly had the
credentials to record this rebellious anthem she was a part of the all-female
Punk Rock group The Runaways before moving to solo success. Other artists to record this song include
The Blue Monkey [who recorded the version used in Dirty Dancing [, Percy
Faith, Bette Middler and Dusty Springfield.
This information is available on Songfacts.com Drew Galloway reminds me of Barry Windham when
he was The NWA World Champion when he was The Lone Wolfe circa 1993. Billy Idol recorded an excellent version of
The Doors classic LA Woman which is on Idolize Yourself the Very Best of Billy
Idol on June 23, 2008. Sammy Hagar’s Red is on All Night Long
released in 1978 which is one of my favorite tunes from The Red Rocker. Tonight Sunday October 2 2016. TNA’s biggest event of the year Bound For
Glory LIVE from The Impact Zone in Orlando Florida! Eddie Edwards VS Aron Rex to determine the
first ever Impact Grand Champion! I have really loved this tournament format
because it really showcases the differences in styles. The Impact Grand Championship is very
innovate! Gail Kim will be inducted
into The TNA Hall Of Fame well deserved!
The Impact debut of Cody will also take place tonight at Bound For
Glory. I have never seen him
preform! Cody is the son of The
American Dream Dusty Rhodes. EC3 will
challenge The TNA World Champion The Destroyer Bobby Lashley in a No Hold
Barred match. The match of the night
was Eddie Edwards VS. Aron Rex to crown the first ever Impact Grand
Champion. This was an excellent back
and forth match I have not seen much Of Aron Rex’s work he proved himself to
me. Aron Rex became the first ever
Impact Grand Champion by decision. The
most unique match that took place at Bound For Glory was The Great War between
Decay The Monster Abyss Crazzy Steve and Rosemary VS. The Broken Hardys Broken
Matt and Brother Nero AKA Jeff Hardy The Hardys for The TNA World Tag Team
Titles. This match was downright crazy
but very innovate and a memorable match.
Bound For Glory was excellent worth every penny! The Hardys Broken Matt and Brother Nero
AKA Jeff Hardy I think it is very cool what Impact is doing right now at Bound
For Glory before The Great War with Reby Hardy on the piano playing their theme
and Broken Matt comes out with Brother Nero and sings I’ll fade away and
classify myself as obsolete that is what took place this past Sunday at Bound
For Glory before The Great War between The Hardys Decay Crazzy Steve The
Monster Abyss and RoseMary. The Hardys
won The Great War and became The TNA World Tag Team Champions again but what a
bizarre and unique concept at one point one of the many alter egos of Brother
Nero AKA Jeff Hardy Willow shows up. They battled all through Universal Studios in
Orlando and at one point a guy got out of his car to take a look. From now on I am going to refer to the hard
rock era of the 1980s as 80s rock.
There were so many excellent bands and musicans from the era that were
and still are marginalized by fans apparently everyone looked ridiculous in the
1980s. Bands such as: Ratt and Dokken
and many others were excellent bands from that era and I would like to preserve
music that I love and that means so much to me and many others. There were probably many musicans from the
1980s that were placed in a certain category that marginalized their talent
that is why many from the era are trying to escape that image. For example: Kip Winger is an extremely
talented and well-versed musican but most mainstream classic rock stations will
not play anything from that era. Now
Grunge/Alternative Rock and bands from the 1990s are now considered to be
classic rock bands such as: Pearl Jam Nirvana and Alice In Chains are considered
classic rock but musicans from the previous era are not even acknowledged. Classic rock stations may only play 80s rock
on a special with hair in the title but hair bands or hair metal were
pejoratives used in the 1990s when these musicans and bands were waning in
popularity and unfortunaly much of this music is still made fun of but it was an
entire generation’s classic rock. So
whatever your preference is people can do what they want I personally do not
want to use the term. I am not a casual
fan of professional wrestling so it is difficult for me to interpret how casual
fans view the product. I do not care
about name recognition I care more about those who I feel are the best workers
and talkers. I know that the best workers usually do not
sell tickets. So it is very difficult
for me to think about how to attract casual fans to the product. But those casual fans are extremely
important when trying to get not just the niche of fans who will always be
there. Because I know that not everyone
is as fanatic a fan of professional wrestling as I am and a certain group of
fans. I think I am more of a fan of
things that would be considered to be more hard rock and not heavy metal. I am not really sure if I really know what would
be considered heavy metal and what is not.
I am a fan of some 1980s hard rock more specifically 80s powerballads. One of my favorite countdown shows on VH1
was VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists Of Hard Rock which is hosted by Carmen
Electra. Ruby Tuesday an excellent song
originally done by The Rolling Stones Katey Sagal who played Gemma Teller on
Sons Of Anarchy performs my favorite version of Ruby Tuesday for Sons Of
Anarchy I guess the band is called The Forest Rangers. Katey Sagal and The Forest Rangers is the best
version of Ruby Tuesday in my opinion.
Liz Phair in the 1990s was known as: The Indie Queen she released an
excellent song one of my favorites rocket boy for a movie called Stealing
Beauty. Lizzy Hale is one of the true
new bad asses of hard rock. My favorite
song from Madonna is bad girl from her 1992 album Erotica. You know the music video where Christopher
Wallken plays a Guardian Angel. The
main reason I like this song the darkness to it. Are Bluegrass and Country music the same
thing? Or are they two different genres but have similarities to them? I think I just answered my own question because
they are two different genres but they both seem very familiar to me which is
cool. I know that trends change and
everything else but I think formulas that worked in the past should always
work. An example: professional wrestling
psychology. I do not understand why people that I respect
in the business say that they are old and that the style has changed. I am sorry but I think if something worked
in the past it should work any time. There
are trends that are going on that I really am not a fan. I wonder if the reason for this is that fans
are more demanding than they were in the past.
There are fans who take it upon themselves to highjack the events. I am
a huge fan of the 1st amendment but I think in many cases it is fans
wanting to be a part of the show or even bigger than the show. I am not a fan of this trend because I really
do not like fans taunting the talent if you are not happy get up and
leave. I know that fans pay a fortune
in some instances for tickets but when a group of fans highjack live events
they are ruining it for fans who are trying to enjoy it. People can have their cellphones and cameras
out but in most cases I think all that is being accomplished is blocking
someone else’s view. I am really not
trying to sound like buzz kill but I think many fans need to stop being such narcissists
that is what this all bowls down to I think.
I would rather listen to music in the physical form instead of listening
to it on youtube but going on youtube is how I have discovered music over the years
so youtube is great for a junkie like me but I still prefer the radio or an
album. It is truly sad what has
happened to rock music over the last couple of years and for that matter the
music industry in general. What this
all comes down for me is fans have to be aware of new music by their favorite
musicans and bands. In most cases they
are not. I am usually not aware of new
music unless I hear about it which is rare.
I wish I had some type of gig where I got to keep up with new music from
my favorite musicans because it is more difficult for me to keep up with new
music from my favorite musicans. That
is why in a lot of cases unfortunaly many of my and many others favorite
musicans struggle. But it would not be
the case if fans were just aware. I try
to do so because hard rock and music in general is my passion. I
know things change but old habits are hard to get rid. The lighter song at a concert should never
go away the most famous example of the lighter song free bird by: Lynyrd Skynyrd. Most
of them done by Bon Jovi. Most of those
bands had the lighter song which is the power ballad or the monster
ballad. I just do not want the lighter
song to go away. There are some myths
about the lighter song that it is just an excuse for some jackass to yell out
free bird. That is just a serotype that
is out there. But you can rock out to a
lighter song in most cases for me those have been the most fun to rock
out. I have to enjoy the little
things. RoseMary of the faction Decay
won the vacant TNA Knockouts Championship by defending Jade inside a Six Sides
Of Steel cage on Impact On Pop December 1st 2016. An excellent match it is rare for females to
main event an Impact. It is also rare
to have a steel cage that involves females.
But WWE and TNA have had main event steel cage matches of some kind with
female participants. Which I think is cool
because that means a company puts stock in that females can main event a
show. I hope it is a taste of things to
come. These are notes just so people
can be aware of what used to be. A
Video Jockey also known as: a VJ was a person who would introduce music videos
and have a party. A Disc Jockey was a
person on the radio who would introduce musicans and songs. There used to be compact disks I remember
cassette tapes this was before downloading music that is what I mean by the
physical form. The reason I am
mentioning all of this I have been told that these jobs and the physical forms
are going away. I am really not sure
what is going to happen if radio and radio hosts are going away it makes no
sense to me. How is that going to
work? I am not trying to be conceding
what I am trying to do is make of the point that the great things I had growing
up but are now it seems are going away.
There is a generation growing up that will only know music that is
downloaded. There is nothing wrong with
that but I think they are missing part of what makes listening to music special. Which to me is having an album not only
listening to the album but looking at the art work and studying it the whole
experience. I wonder because I can not
be the only one to have this thought when people hit my age what is hip and new
is not geared towards people my age. What
I find odd is that older people think that people my age know what is cool and
hip today but in my case and I am going to guess other people my age and older
are not hip to what is going on. I
really just think it is important to know I think people stop being with it
whatever it is when they are sixteen years old. Sometimes with this awesome platform I want
to make a small note of celebrities that I like Cindy Margolious I salute you
rock on Cindy! This is for me more than
anything else which is keeping up with my favorite musicans and bands it is
extremely important to stay engaged.
There is a parallel to professional wrestling because when people leave
the WWE mainstream fans think that person is retired which is not true in many
cases. That is why it is extremely
important to stay engaged. I am talking
to myself more than anyone else! I
realize that people live busy lives which takes away time to keep up with their
hobbies but this is extremely important because that is why many musicans and professional
wrestlers you name it that is the main reason they struggle sometimes. This past year 2016 VH1 Classic became MTV
Classic I am more of rock guy than a rap guy I went through my own rap faze
fifteen years ago. MTV Classic focuses
on the 1990s supposedly. There was some
excellent music and fashion trends in the 1990s. Alternative Rock and Grunge but also Rap and
Hip-Hop. So I enjoy some of the rock
and they play some good classic movies but I do miss VJS or hosts if you
will. I hate to keep harping on this but
I think MTV getting away from music as it’s identity as hurt the music
industry. But overall for what I have
seen from MTV Classic it is good so far.
But I do miss That Metal Show. Beau Hill is an excellent record producer he
produced albums for Winger Ratt and Fiona Flanagan. Beau Hill also CO wrote a song with Fiona
Flanagan called Hearts Of Fire for a movie of the same name. In my opinion
Ratt’s best work was with Beau Hill. He
just knows how to get a crisp sound and to make the individuals he is working the
best they can be. There were musicans
and bands once they stopped working with Beau they were never quite the
same. Saraya is a band that I wish
would reunite one more time. They do
not have to do anything new Saraya was just magic. I have rediscovered Saraya through the
internet youtube to be exact. If Saraya reunited that would be a concert I
would get up and go see. Sandi Saraya
was not just gorgeous she was an excellent singer and frontwoman. I
still prefer having the psychical but youtube is a wonderful tool to rediscover
music for a junkie like me. Saraya’s self-titled debut album Saraya was released in
1989. Saraya’s second album When The
Blackbird Sings was released in 1991.
If House Of Hardcore HOH ever came to my
hometown I would definitely go. I love
the founder and promoter of HOH Tommy Dreamer.
I love the hardcore philosophy.
I would want to see Franchine and Beulah Mcgillicutty. Franchine is retired from professional
wrestling but it would cool to see her backstage at an event. I know Beulah will never accompany Tommy
Dreamer to the ring again but I would like to see her backstage. I believe that climate changes I just do not
believe that human beings contribute to it.
It is arrogances on our part to believe that we have that much
power! I make a diffraction between manmade climate
change and climate change that we have no control over. Universal Solider is one of my favorite
movies which stars Jean Claude Van Damme.
When I was growing up another favorite movie of mine was and still is
Street Fighter. My favorite action
heroes are: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean Claude Van Damme. Both The Terminator and Universal Solider
are both about cyborgs but to me that is where the similarities end. In someway I prefer and like Universal
Solider better than The Terminator.
Universal Solider has great action it is really well done. Universal Solider in my opinion seems to be
overlooked and underappreciated by many.
I think Universal Solider is an underappreciated gem. Total Non-Stop Delectation was an excellent
event. Matt Hardy should be commended
for taking a chance. Matt could have just
played it safe instead he took a chance with becoming Broken Matt Hardy. With everything not everyone is going to
like a presentation this must be an extension or a part of Matt’s own
personality. Jeff Hardy has always been
a fan favorite. But I do not feel that
Matt has been given or taken the chance to do the same. Impact Wrestling should also be commended they
took many chances this past year to give the fans something different. There are many trends going on particularity
on the independent scene in professional wrestling that I am bothered. But this change and chance that Broken Matt
Hardy and Impact Wrestling has taken is extremely entertaining and something
really positive for both Broken Matt Hardy and Impact Wrestling and for the
business in general. Laura Branigan
sprit of love from her 1987 album Touch.
Sprit of love is already an excellent song but I think it is much better
to see her perform the song. One of the
great aspects of Laura’s music each album goes in a different direction. I do not understand the phenomenon of guys
who have man caves. I understand having
your own stuff but I do not understand the reason to have a man cave. Cowboy Bill Watts was the promoter of The
Universal Wrestling Federation also known as: The UWF. The Cowboy was extremely strict on how he
wanted his business conducted. One of
his funniest guidelines if a performer ever got into a fight with a civilian
The Cowboy mandated they had to win the fight or they were fired. The Cowboy thought if guys were dumb enough
and were going to make asses out of themselves they better win! The advantage human beings have over any
other animal we have the ability to change.
Yes we are animals but most people squandered it! Change does not feel good but it is the greatest gift we have as human beings.
The Majority of individuals do not need to change everything about
themselves but I think everyone has aspects about their personality that they
need to change or refine. It will be a
more satisfying life. The Headpins and
Darby Mills maybe considered classic rock in their hometown of Canada but The
Headpins are one of my favorite bands from the 1980s. Darby Mills is still touring. It is extremely important that these
musicans are still out there because newer fans can rediscover and enjoy this
music. I have become a huge fan of John
Hitait. John Hitait I would say his musical style is
country rock with a mixture of the blues.
An example: would be his version of riding with the king. Which is a great version from someone I
call The Real Deal! John also did an
excellent version of have a little faith in me. John Hitait is underappreciated in my
opinion. Once again I have to thank
comedian Adam Carolla for introducing me and letting me know about John
Hiatt. Drew Galloway became the new
Impact Grand Champion by defending Moose on Impact on Pop on January 19th
2017. In my opinion Drew Galloway’s
style is Taylor made for The Impact Grand Championship. Drew
Galloway should be an excellent Impact Grand Champion! I am a huge fan of The Impact Grand
Championship format. Kip Winger is
nominated for a Grammy in the category of classical music. Yes I am talking about the same Kip Winger
that is known for seventeen. Congregations
Kip I have always known you to be a well-versed musican. When 80s hard rock was waning in popularity
Winger was the band that got hurt the most from the backlash against 1980s
rock. I am really tired of hearing
about the image associated with this music. The image associated with 1980s
rock has hurt these musicans and bands.
But I think looking back at the era it had some of the best musicans and
bands but until people stop thinking about the image of the era it will continue to hurt these
great musicans and bands. I really wish
the majority of people would focus on whether 1980s rock was good or bad. Congratulations MR. Winger! Angels Never Die is an album by: The Metal
Queen Of The World Doro Pesch which was released in 1993. Angels Never Die has one of my favorite hard
rock songs from Doro you ain’t lived till you’re loved to death. Angels Never Die also features bad blood a
song with a very powerful message! Doro
is still going strong after 25 years of rocking around the world! Doro also has performed some of the most beautiful
ballads such as: even angels cry and children of the night. The Boss Bruce Springsteen did my favorite
version of Jersey Girl this song has been covered by many. Jersey Girl was originally written and
performed by Tom Waits. Tom Waits also
originally wrote and performed downtown train.
Which was made famous by Rod Stewart.
Kimberly Caldwell is one of my favorite musicans her voice sounds
similar to another favorite musican that I enjoy Pink but it is different. I like Pink because she is dominate. What I enjoy most about Kimberly’s music her
voice is raspy but it changes from her softer material such as: if you’re gonna
fall and mess of you or a more upbeat party song such as: desperate girls and
stupid boys but Kimberly’s voice always seems to have the same edge. The fact that her voice is raspy is why I
believe she never loses her edge. The
raspiness of her voice makes her ballads that much more sweet. She also did my favorite version of sleep
while I drive originally written and performed by: Melissa Etheridge. Kimberly Caldwell certainly does have a punk
rock feel to her which is a part of the edge.
Kimberly also seems to have a fun personality and is a one of a kind
musican! I am going to give a salute to
a great musican Holly Beth Vincent who was in a band called Holly and The Italians. Holly Beth Vincent is probably best known
for her version of for what it’s worth by: Buffalo Springfield. The song is often misinterpreted as being
called what’s that sound? Holly Beth
has an extremely raw voice with songs such as: you can love her and Hey
Christine which are really great songs from Holly Beth’s solo album Demos
Federico. Demos Federico is really the
only album that I am familiar. It just
catches my ear. I am sure Holly Beth
Vincent has other great albums I am just familiar with one unfortunately. Forever Hardcore is my favorite documentary
on professional wrestling more specifically on Extreme Championship Wrestling
ECW. Forever Hardcore is presented by:
Blue Horizon Pictures and was done by Jeremy Borash. ECW was a promotion based in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Critics of ECW will conclude that ECW was
just the blood and guts promotion. But
ECW was a hybrid of styles of professional wrestling. Forever Hardcore goes in depth about The ECW
Revolution. The documentary includes
interviews with hardcore icons such as: The Franchise Shane Douglas Sabu Terry
Funk and New Jack etc. There are many
pros and cons when it comes to ECW I choose to think of the positive impact
because The ECW Revolution had both a positive and negative impact on the
professional wrestling business. The
passion and respect that the fans had was just incredible and infectious. ECW completely changed the professional
wrestling business in The United States at the time. ECW
provided a platform to talent that would not have had opportunities
elsewhere. That was the most positive
aspect of ECW and having more than just one company to work. Rob Van Dam was really proficient in all
styles of professional wrestling RVD came from ECW. As I mentioned earlier the impact that Extreme Championship
Wrestling had on the professional wrestling industry were both positive and
negative but ECW was my favorite era being a fan of professional wrestling These icons became forever hardcore! It is the 25th anniversary of one
of my favorite movie Wayne’s World!
Wayne’s World has been not just an influence on this project but my life
in general. I got
the idea to do a salute to people who have influenced me but I do not really
have much to say about them. But I
can’t say swing. I watched Wayne’s
World 2 one night with my dad when I have never felt that bad ever I did not
think I would get past it. That is why
I kept telling people I loved them.
But thank God I got through it.
It made me appreciate the small things in life. Watching
it that night gave me the impetus to finally start this project! A dream match that I have always wanted to
see is Diamond Dallas Page VS. The Rock.
People’s Champion VS. People’s Champion! Bret The Hitman Hart and The Rocket Owen
Hart were a pretty great tag team. The
Hitman had the technical wrestling skills and mat technique that was truly mind
blowing. The Rocket had the technical
wrestling skills and prowess as well combined with an aerial arsenal. That was poetic! My favorite match in The Bret Owen program
took place on the premiere of the Action Zone on 9/29/94. Supposedly Stu Hart who is the dad of the two
brothers had a sense of humor much like Owen did. Which I did not realize because when I think
of Stu I think of his stretching and putting individuals in submission
holds. I guess you never know about
people. But it is cool! It seems to me most of my favorite Simpsons
episodes have one thing in common they were written or produced by: Conan
O’Brien. I am not really sure what that
says about my sense of humor but Conan must be a genius in some kind of
way. I do enjoy Conan’s Clueless Gamer
reviews. Alberto El Parton made his
Impact Wrestling debut on March 9th 2017. He defended the Impact World Heavyweight Champion
Lashley by using the world heavyweight championship by hitting him with the
championship. Lashley did bring the
title into the ring but I think Impact officials made the correct decision by
giving the championship back to Lashley.
It was a Dusty finish Dusty Rhodes was probably thrilled that Impact
used his finish. Impact has been
revamped as Impact Wrestling. The one
thing in life that remains constant is change I think it has been excellent so
far making Impact great. The challenge
that Impact Wrestling has is name recognition.
I really do not care about who is
on the Impact roster at any giving time because I realize talent in a company
come and go. But
the casual fans do not care about the best workers they care about talent they
recognize and that is the challenge.
The WWE understands this fact and to their credit they have mastered
it. The niche fans will always be there
but the casual fans may not be. It is
difficult for me to ignore moves holds and submissions because that is one of
the main parts of what I love about the art form that is professional
wrestling. Whatever anyone’s preference
is they can do what they want. Knowing
the moves holds and submissions is one of my hobbies. The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels has
finally become a world heavyweight champion by winning The Ring Of Honor World
Heavyweight Championship on ROH’s 15th anniversary show. I
have always viewed The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels being up there with
some of the all time great mat technicians such as: Chris Benoit Bret Hart Eddie
Guerreo and Dean Malenko etc.
Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian who were known as: The Bad Influence
in Impact Wrestling are now known as: The Addiction in Ring Of Honor etc. I
am thrilled that The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels is The Ring Of Honor
World Heavyweight Champion after a 24 year career. I am not of the opinion that if The Sandman
in ECW did not come out to the ring drinking beer that Stone Cold Steve Austin
would not have happened in the WWE.
Steve Austin always had the stone cold persona in him he just needed the
right people to recognize that in the WWE and that is exactly what happened. Stone Cold drank beer and would give middle
fingers to the audience. Sandman in ECW on the other hand did not just
drink beer while going to the ring he carried a Singapore Cane to the ring with
him. Both Sandman and Stone Cold’s personas were
their very own. It was not until the
right people in ECW in Sandman’s words “let him be Hack”. Not just anyone could have done those
gimmicks and made them successful. It
is not comparable to an actor playing a role in a movie or a television show
because both Sandman and Steve Austin created their own personas. In professional wrestling what makes a
persona or gimmick unique is not everyone can make a persona or gimmick connect
with fans. They must make a gimmick or persona somewhat
their own that is what gives any talent longevity. ECW created something called Pulp Fiction
passages with the opening music of the movie Pulp Fiction playing. Those video passages are one of the reasons
ECW’s owner Paul Heyman is credited for having such an impact in changing the
professional wrestling business in The United States at the time. Just because something is similar to
something else that does not mean it is a copy of it. When something is popular there is usually
someone who will do something similar to it without having what is similar in
mind. That is why for example: I do not think about copying writing a musical
melody. Because there is only so many
melodies to use without sounding alike.
I realize that the 1980s all
female band The GOs GOs were a pop band but the guitarist for the band Jane
Weldin was influenced mostly by punk rock.
All that needs to be done is look back at Jane’s hairstyles through the years. Jane’s solo albums are still mostly pop but
her punk influence cannot be denied. My
favorite song on Jane’s solo album Tangled is guardian angel. The song is reassuring and loving. But Jane Weldin still remains punk. An example: of Jane’s punk influence call me
crazy with her band frosTED from their 1996 album Cold. The song
has an alternative rock sound and feel to it which was popular at the time but
Jane makes it her own. This maybe
confusing to some because The Gos GOS were a pop band but I think I could prove
that the guitarist for that band is punk not but what she has done with The Gos
Gos but by what she has done outside of the band. Jane Weldin has a greatest hits record
called The Very Best Of Jane Weldin from cool places to world on fire. My favorite episode of The Simpsons is The Last
Temptation Of Krust. It is my favorite episode because I love
Krusty because he is this hard living clown that does everything to excess. He gambles too much he smokes too much and
drinks too much etc. It is worth noting
to me that Krusty is a kids show host but he lives this on the edge sort of
life. Also Krusty has this raspy
cynical voice. Krusty forms a raunchy comic
persona he rants about how he hates seeing on television commercials of dead
celebrities hawking products. The only reason
for this in krusty’s mind is corporations will do anything to get people to buy
their crap. In
the episode Krusty finally realizes that he has not being working on his act
but selling out. The best part is I do
not think he realizes this until he is in his biggest fan Bart’s room. I do not think Krusty updated his act since
he was named the most promising newcomer of 1959. So Bart asks comedian Jay Leno to help him
with his act. Krusty changes his whole
persona and becomes a raunchy comedic.
He is wearing a black leather jacket and a ponytail. Krusty starts to get a little traction then
two suits give Krusty an offer to endorse their brand new car The
Canyonero. Krusty tells the two suits
that he does not sell out for nobody no more.
Then they tell him that it is free again. Krusty says my favorite line in the episode
he fanatically says stop saying that!
While pushing them out the door.
Krusty says in his stand up that
he threw them out on their ass. Then
they follow him home then he tries The Canyonero and he realizes how roomy the
vehicle is. The audience turns on him throwing
beer bottles etc at him. Everyone in
the audience leaves while Jay Leno is standing at the exit and says I knew I
should’ve gone on first. Krusty leaves
out the backdoor with Bart. He tells
him that he learned something about himself it is not comedy that is in his
blood it is selling out. Krusty drives
off in his Canyonero with Bart then a Canyonero commercial plays. It is the only car endorsed by a clown. The funniest aspect of the episode Krusty
tries to not sell out but he just cannot help himself in the end he sells
out. Jay Leno said about The Last
Temptation Of Krust he could not tell whether the writers of The Simpsons were
making fun or complementing him. ECW
original Tommy Dreamer I think said it best that without ECW owner Paul Heyman
taking a chance on himself Taz Sabu etc
they would have had to stay working for independent promotions or they would
have never gotten a chance at all without
the ECW platform. There are many things said about promoters
and I would put WWE CEO Triple H and WWE owner Vince Mcmahon in this category
as well there are things that are said that are just conjecture or lies that
are said that a group of individuals believe to be the truth. The point is they were given an opportunity
that they may not have gotten elsewhere.
They were not forced to do
anything they did not want to do. These individuals made their own choices I am tired of hearing people in the media say
that individuals who make their living in the business are forced to do things
they do not want to do. I am not saying that people in the media do
not have a right to their own opinions but I wish for most of them they would
educate themselves on a topic before they chirp then form an opinion. It is never wise to form an opinion on
emotion. I am glad to make note that Tony Schiavone
is doing a professional wrestling podcast called What Happened When with Conrad
Thompson Conrad was the CO host of The Wooo Nation which was a podcast hosted
by: The Nature Boy Ric Flair. I have
grown to appreciate Tony Schiavone as: a
commentator and as: a human being. Tony
has been announcing his other passion Major League Baseball. I am happy that Tony was able to get a job
following another one of his passions.
Tony has always loved professional wrestling growing up as: a fan of Mid
Atlantic. What I have decided to do is
discuss my favorite partners that Tony has worked. Jim Ross they have both said that nether one
of them were doing play by play and other doing color they were just calling
wrestling and having fun. I enjoyed
Tony’s work with Bobby The Brain Heenan The Professor Mike Tenay was also a
part of The Monday Nitro team. What Happened When is a podcast where Conrad
and Tony discuss a topic from Tony’s time in both World Championship Wrestling
and Jim Crockett Promotions who owned The National Wrestling Alliance also known
as: NWA before Ted Turner brought the company and changed the name to World
Championship Wrestling WCW. Tony
Schiavone is one of my top favorite announcers. Conrad Thompson also does a podcast with
Bruce Prichard called Something To Wrestling with which is also on The MLW
Radio Network. I am really happy that
Anthem Sports and Entertainment the new owners of Impact Wrestling have rehired
The Founder Of Impact Wrestling Jeff Jarrett Dirty Dutch Mantell and Bruce
Prichard. That is a pretty excellent
group of legends. I am really pulling
for Impact Wrestling I think Anthem is off to a great start. It will take some time for Anthem to get
everything in place and patience on the fans part. The
only criticism I have and this is only speculation on my part Anthem should not
sue their talent over their gimmicks. I guess I can understand copywriting a
name but I do not think gimmicks can be copy written. The reason why not just anyone can perform a
gimmick because a gimmick that is successful is based on characteristics that
talents want to use and this is key to being successful characteristics from
their own personalities. I do not even
know what is true or not but that is why a gimmick or persona should not be
tried to be copy written by a company.
A song that I think is worthy of note: silent partners by: Laura
Brangian from her 1984 release self-control.
It is a great great song it is much in the same vain as: I wish we could
be alone. I may have made a mistake
somewhere by writing in an earlier section that I wish we could be alone was
released in 1984. The song is available
on Laura’s debut album Brangian and was released in 1982. Laura was once asked a
question by a fan about I wish we could alone she said she had to keep
somethings secret but it was obviously
about someone very special and that she leaves a little part of herself on
every song. Comedian Don Rickles was
before my time and I do mean that to be an insult but the influence that Don
Rickles had on so many not comedians but entertainers in general cannot be
denied. He was known as: an insult
comedic but he was a very sweet man and extremely influential. I am glad that both ODB and Rebel are back
in Impact Wrestling. It looks as if ODB
will challenge The Knockouts Champion RoseMary ODB refers to the title as: The
Knocked Up Championship. Rebel is my
favorite Impact Wrestling Knockout. She
has been my favorite knockout since Rebel was Knox’s girlfriend and was a part
of The Menagerie with Crazzy Steve. The
Menagerie was a faction that consisted of Knox Crazzy Steve and Rebel. Knox’s family supposedly owned a circus that
falls on hard times. Knox relationship
with his dad becomes strained because tornados have caused severe damage to
where they live. Knox makes up with his
dad and with much help from Rebel The Menagerie is formed. Rebel was also a member of The Doll House. I love Rebel she has the greatest entrance
in the game besides Melina and The Undertaker etc. Rebel has that stair flexibility and looks
great in a cowgirl hat. Christy Hemme
is another one of my favorite knockouts whatever she does I think it is going
to be good. She is the front woman of
her own rock band Hemme. Christy’s
singing voice reminds me of Gwen Stefani when she was with No Doubt I do not know
circa 1996. The point is it was
good. The Cowboy James Storm has always
been The Cowboy James Storm but he has had to reinvent himself in order to keep
himself from becoming stale. Which
happens to everyone eventually. Then
they go away for a period of time.
After a period of time talents can comeback or go elsewhere. The point is there is no time frame. In the professional wrestling business
wrestlers have to leave or stay on their own terms. In order to do that and I could be wrong
here but make themselves valuable.
Which is easier said than done.
The most important point being leaving or staying on their own
terms. The Cowboy James Storm
reintroduced himself this past Thursday night on Impact On Pop as: The Cowboy
James Storm. He said in the same promo
that for past fifteen years he has always been The Cowboy James Storm. I did not see this match but this past
Sunday The Undertaker had his final match at Wrestlemina 33 against Roman
Reigns. The Undertaker in my opinion is
the most well diverse in terms of both his in ring style and his personas. The Undertaker always understood that he had
to keep reinventing himself. I know that
I am in minority but my favorite version of Undertaker is The American Bad
Ass. There were aspects of The Phenom
that I loved in terms of his entrance.
That entrance is one that I regret not being there and experiencing
live. The Undertaker is arguably the
greatest attraction in the history of the business up there with Andre The
Giant. I do not understand the comment
by fans who say well we have seen that before in professional wrestling. I do not understand that mindset because I
do not think that there is much that fans have not seen in professional
wrestling. The problem with having that
mindset that certain fans may have the talent will feel they have to do more
high risk moves. Matches will not make
sense if all that talent is doing in matches are high spots many fans have become
immune to high spots. It just does not
make any sense. Professional wrestlers
have to maximize their minutes. In my opinion if talent choose to use high
spots they should save them for a big show or on a special occasion. I am truly at a point well I have been at
this point for a while but it just keeps getting worse. There are a group of individuals who want or
try to get prominent public figures fired.
I know social media is part of the problem. I am not really sure what can be done. I am just wondering what effect it has on
indviuals psychology Older individuals do not think about it. But the younger
generations that is all they will know.
I can keep talking about it which I have done in earlier sections. Individuals can keep saying this prominent
public figure needs to be fired. That
person needs to go it just will never end.
Once this starts it will result in unintended consequences which is
already happening. A word that is often
used is backlash there is always backlash over comments that are made. Anytime anyone expresses an opinion someone
will not like it. Again I do not know
how to stop this because it seems like everyone has a platform of some kind to
express their displeasure about everything!
I am not saying that individuals should not
express their opinions but prominent public figures for the most part did not
earn a position of influence just by luck.
They usually come from nothing and busted their tails to get where they
are. If this continues to happen where
a group of individuals get their joy and self-worth by trying to get public
figures and people of influence to fall eventually no one will be able to
express any type of opinion. For the people who are doing this I have one
question for them do they not realize that once this starts it will eventually
affect them? Because society will just
be conditioned to keep going after people and it will never end. It is truly a shame. Older
generations for the most part probably do not see these problems but it will
eventually affect time. Which is not
their fault. I am not singling out
older generations but if they are unaware of the influence social media has it will
eventually affect them as well. I am not
really aware of what is happen on social media but I know that certain people
are using it to get people they do not like in trouble. What I find to be the most troubling I do
not think they really care. It seems like now all it takes is one
complaint by people who feel empowered and corporations cave. I want corporations to make money but if that
is the only thing corporations are concerned that means they will cave
everytime a sponsor does not approve of an opinion expressed by any public
figure. I think there needs to be a
sense of loyalty. This also is
effecting what is happening on college campuses college students are being
taught that if they disagree with a point of view speakers should not be
allowed on campus. Juliana Hateflied’s
new album Pussycat was released on April 28th 2017. I have enjoyed what I have heard so
far. I am not really sure what I am going
to do if I am going to listen to it on youtube or iTunes or by another
way. I do not like the idea of listening
to music on youtube when the songs seem like they were leaked. I do feel that musicans should be
compensated for their work. I will
admit to discover many musicans that have become my favorite musicans on
youtube but I still think they should be compensated in some way. This interview can be found on: Performers the
Musician Resource an Impossible Song: An Interview with Juliana Hatfield By
Vincent Scarpa on April 27th 2017.
I could have misunderstood Juliana in the interview where the
interviewer said that he thought all of her music is political in someway. I am not sure I could be wrong. It does not bother me what Juliana’s
politics are. I appreciate her honest feelings
that is why alternative rock connected with me. Pussycat has been called an anti-Trump record
but Juliana said she is trying to control that narrative. She said it is a pro American and
anti-hatred. That seems like a
universal message to me. Also an anti-sexism
record I hope that sexism is not rooted into our culture and maybe men as:
Juliana questioned in an interview: Best Song Ever:”Spin The Bottle” By Juliana
Hatfield. An oral history of 1995’s
classic teen crush. By Estelle Tang April 28, 2017. Which is available
on ELLE.com’s Best Song Ever column I do not know it could be human nature for me
because truth be told I am not sure if I know what sexism is anymore. I would love to guess that I make an effort
to treat people fairly regardless of their gender. I have been very confused as of
late. I am not really sure what it is
but I am trying to get where it does not become some sort of depression. I have been here before so I am trying to
just be aware of it. In the past I have
not. I am trying to get through it by
praying which all prayer is talking to God.
I do not know I think many people just make it to hard they make it more
than it is. I think being aware of my
confusion it is easier for me to communicate with bullet points in my
prayers. If I was not aware of my confusion I would
not be. But that is one of the many
reasons God is there. We may not know what
we are going through at any given time but God does. When getting
into complicated issues such these there will always be naysayers people who
will say I do not poses anything that they do not have. Which is true. I know the need for the Holy Sprit the need
is in everyone. The reason Christans
use the term born again it is used in the bible. The Bible says individuals must be born again
and that is a need that comes from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Sprit changes an Indvidual’s heart
inside and out the bible says they become a new creation. If that comes off as: condescending or disingenuous
to the naysayers that is tough. People
are skeptical and they should be. No
one is chosen the Holy Spirit is not excusive to one person. I was irate and bothered when Nora O’Donnell
interviewed: Bill O’reilly for his book Killing Jesus when he said he got his
inspiration for writing the book from the Holy Spirit. Nora O’Donnell questioned that Bill O’reilly
was suggesting that he was the chosen one man that really bothers me. All he was saying is where he got the
inspiration for the book. So I think
people have to be careful. But I think
if people are being genuine it will connect with them. This growing up it never ends the same
mistakes come back again. Lyrics: that
make perfect sense from if I wanted trouble by: Minor Alps this band includes:
Matthew Caws and Juliana Hatfield. If I
wanted trouble is available on Get There which was released in 2013. Juliana
also has performed an unplugged version of if I wanted trouble. Back in the 1990s MTV had this philosophy in
order to get back to the root of the music that if a musican did not unplug
they were not real artists. This
probably started with 1980s hard rock when musicans and bands would release a
power ballad that is how musicans and bands would sell a million records. This unplugged trend did not seem to last
that long I remember it for a short time.
For example: I love Layla by Derek and The Dominos but when
Eric Clapton performs Layla acoustically I do not really care for it. It is not the same song. I think when the post Nirvana wave happened
it gave rise to the popularity of alternative rock for the first time
ever. When I was growing up the
popularity of Grudge rock had reached it’s peek. I was not even aware of Nirvana until I
watched A VH1 Behind The Music on Weird Al Yankovic. There was a short blimp
where alternative rock reached mainstream popularity. A year after in 1997 Gangster Rap and boy
bands started to become popular and the whole industry seemed to change. There were still alternative musicans and bands
but it was in smaller numbers. Billy
Squire is the most sampled musican in hip-hop history I am just trying to find
a silver lining. I do find it odd that
when trends occur the whole industry changes.
What seems too happened is that once the industry changes musicans or
bands will either try to capitalize on the change or they will go away for a
while. In most cases the musicans and
bands that try to reinvent themselves fail.
I think there is a prominent reason for this if the music is genuine it
will successful because the public realizes when musicans and bands are just
trying to capitalize on trends. I
realize that musicians and bands have to do what they feel they have to do to
survive but if it is not genuine it will not connect. I recently purchased When I Grow Up which is
a memoir by Juliana Hatfield. I may if I am able take notes from the book
when I find something worthy of note.
It could be one of the main aspects of Juliana in which I relate. The main reason I decided to finally buy the
book one of the reasons I love Juliana’s music. But I hesitated for a long time because I
knew it would be depressing because her music and interviews are kind of
depressing. But it connects with
me. The truth is that was what was so
intriguing about her music to me in the first place was the darkness of it! But I just had to prepare myself for
it. I read
a comment on youtube that said reading the memoir would change your life. It was not a comment directed at me
obviously but I do feel that I have a connection with Juliana thorough her
music. I could not prepared myself for
how depressing Juliana’s memoir would be.
But I found myself identifying with the memoir. In regards to coming off as aloof or dealing
with depression. Thank you Juliana for
your openness. It had to be very
difficult. I know that Juliana does not
feel comfortable with praise. I am the
same way. But it gave me reassurance that I am not so
alone. The
book that Juliana said she thinks inspired her book is Hallucinations Of
Grandeur by: Henry Rollins. How many
times did The Undertaker reinvent himself?
About 10 or 15 but here is the key he was still relevant. Technically Juliana Hateflied’s first solo
album Hey Babe was released in 1991.
Which was a take-off on her first band The Blake Babies. I mentioned in an earlier section that Hey
Babe was released in 1999 but it was just reissued. “I respect my audience enough to always
present myself as a real flawed person telling her version of the truth, and
not some windup doll that can be positioned in front of the camera any way the
photographer wants. I want a sensitive
thoughtful audience who can see their own imperfect lives in my songs, so they
don’t feel as alone as they think they are, and so I don’t have feel as alone
as I think I am. This is from Juliana
Hateflied’s memoir: When I Grow Up from
Chapter 13 August 8 Columbus on page 96.
While reading the memoir I find myself connecting and identifying with
Juliana. I am concerned I am not sure if that is good
or bad. I am not being emo I do not
appreciate such a derogatory term. I
will say this: I will keep on exploring.
Emo might be a term but it is a derogatory term to me and probably too
many others. Richard’s playlist by
alternative rock band Sonic Youth are: drunken butterfly I love you: I love you
Golden Blue and sweet shine. Alanis
Morrisette’s album Jagged Little Pill was produced by Russ Ballard who performed
voices. The Cranberries were considered
an alternative rock band they were played on MTV’s Alternative Nation which was
hosted by Kenndey. I am sure The Cranberries
were also played on MTV’s 120 Minutes which was hosted by: Matt Pinflied etc.
120 Minutes was also dedicated to
alternative rock. Which included: My
Sister from The Juliana Hateflied Three.
The song My Sister is featured on Become What You Are. My Sister was Juliana’s most commercially
successful single. Which I learned in
Juliana’s memoir: When I grow up. Many of
Liz Phair’s videos were probably played on 120 Minutes. Angelfish’s video for suffocate me was played
only once at 2: O’clock in the morning by MTV on 120 Minutes. The hosts were known as: VJS. A term that is often used for alternative
rock is indie rock or underground. MTV is and always has been generational and a
blank canvas that every new generation paints what they want on to it. Milla Jovovich simply known as: Milla got
rotation on MTV’s Alternative Nation with her video gentleman who fell. It seems to me just by my research that Late
Night With Conan O’Brien featured many alternative acts such as: Milla and The Juliana
Hateflied Three. Maybe during this era
alternative rock was more mainstream then I realize. Tori Amos seems like her music was featured
more prominently at certain points. X Motel
Room[In My Bed was Juliana Hateflied’s first female empowerment anthem. Which is featured in her memoir When I Grow
Up chapter 14 The Story of My “Sister”.
Aimmee Mann has been asked in
interviews: why her songs are so depressing?
Here is what I got from an interview:
Aimee’s songs are not depressing to her. Also that happy songs are not always that
happy. That with happy songs there are
no conflicts. Aimmee feels that
everyone has something valuable to offer even if their “something of an idiot they still have wisdom of some kind and she looks for moments of that in
people”. I think she was disusing her
album The Forgotten Arm. I read a
review of Juliana Hateflied’s album called How To Walk Away where the reviewer
compared the album to The Forgotten Arm.
When I hear people say I hope a
person is happy. I am really not sure
what they mean if happiness is an action and not a feeling. I envy happy people I am not sure if they
really exist but if they do I truly envy them.
I need time for reflection I must have time to slow down. For some people peace and quiet drives them
crazy for me I need it! There is an old country song by: Keith Whitley
called when you say nothing at all.
Alison Krauss and The Union Station I would say probably made this song
famous. Sara Evans preforms my favorite
version of when you say nothing at all.
I think for me most of the time in my life it is better to listen then
speak. Listening and really absorbing conversation
is an invaluable skill much like music.
There is a huge difference in just listening to music and absorbing it
and taking it all in and being truly transported. People often exalt the people who make the
music they love. Juliana said in her
memoir that the success of My Sister showed her that the feelings that she had
were not so different and that she was not as alone as she thought. I
respect musicans that are who they are here are two surprising examples: Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Cher would be another example: but maybe in
a different way. Now Katy Perry maybe perceived to be
manufactured by many but she has changed or reinvent herself. Reinvention to me is never about changing
with the times. Reinvention has to do
with growth whether it is spiritual or emotional growth it has to be coming
from within. Alternative rock band
Garbage lead singer Shairly Mansion pays tribute to Chrissy Hynde of The
Pretenders with the lyrics we’re the talk of the town from special which is on
Garbage’s second album Garbage 2.0.
Early albums from The Pretenders 1979 to 1980 etc for example there is
much punk rock influence. When I am
referring to punk rock I am not talking about musicans that cannot sing or play
their instruments very well that could be a perception that is out there. I do not believe it had to do with bondage
or anything like that it had to do with a group or many individuals who felt that
they had to claw and climb and break through walls to have their voices heard. Counterculture if you will. I
would put Joan Jett into this category.
Punk rock had nothing to do with riots and anarchy in some cases that is
what it became. To me that is not
revolutionary all that is it destruction for the sake of destruction. Whatever the point that is trying to be
expressed that is never the direction to go.
A perception that is out there is that if a band was punk that meant the
musicans were not really musicans they just had this need to be in a band but
did not really have a knack for it. I mentioned in an earlier section that The Juliana
Hateflied Three released an LP entitled For The Birds. It was released as an LP but For The Birds
is a single on The Juliana Hateflied Three’s album Become What You Are. The For The Birds LP features the single
Hello My Name Is Baby. The video for
For The Birds is really a great video very memorable it was featured on MTV’s
Alternative Nation. Ben Stiller and Jeannie Garofalo gave rise to
an alternative comic scene. Ben
Stiller also directed the video for spin the bottle by The Juliana Hateflied
Three which is featured in the movie Reality Bites and on the soundtrack. Dennis Prager wrote a book on happiness
called Happiness Is A Serious Problem. MR.
Prager will not provide a definition on happiness he compares it to what a
judge said about pornography I know it when I see it. Happiness maybe like hate speech no one can
define it. Hate speech is in the eye of
the beholder. 50% of college students
say that they believe in free speech but not hate speech. They are missing the whole point of free
speech. I have a problem figuring out
what is narcissistic and what is not.
Narcissism is a huge problem in society. People are constantly saying that my
generation or this generation is the me generation. I will say that this generation coming up is
not the greatest generation. I do not
understand this generation. All I really
see is constantly being bombarded negativity.
I think I am barley a so called millennial. I do not get it! I do not want to be a narcissist. It is one of the worst things anyone can be
called. Being called a racist is fine
with me. There are many disorders that
people have. I wonder if it has gotten
worse because of social media and the internet? I know it has exasperated the problem. But I know society cannot fix this
issue. The only thing that can be done
is parental supervision. I think most
of the people who use social media are probably adults. But as time goes on younger children will get
involved with this. One of the main
issues that I have and this is how I guess society has progressed I really try
to stay away from the negativity on the internet but I do not think it can be
escaped. My dad told me and he is right
unfortunately he said to me “if it bleeds it leads”. I get it!
I will admit to being extremely sensitive when it comes to any kind of
media. One of the main issues I have
with most media I try and respect people’s wishes and their privacy even if you
are talking about public figures. I
understand that if individuals are public figures everything is somewhat fair
game. But public figures are also human
beings. I think most of the time people
in general forget or do not care about their humanity. Which is one of my main criticism of the
media in the first place. People hold
celebrities up on a pedestal and forget that they are just human beings like
everyone else I do it for musicans. It
is not a great thing but I do exalt them.
I just think about what it has been like for me when I first hear a song
by a musican or a band the feeling and emotions that I have the connect that is
why I exalt them. I am glad for me this
is not my generation. But I do have an
extreme concern for the next generation coming up. The main concern that I have because the
next generation is growing up with all this new technology around them that
means and I could be wrong that they will use social media and other different
forums of commutation. One of the
dangers with this new technologies people will say things to anyone that they
would not say in person in other words they hide behind their keyboards. Younger people who use this technology will
not be able to comprehend what is occurring or they will make grave mistakes
with the power they have. I guess there
is an age restriction for using this technology so that is something positive
but I see younger and younger children posting videos of some kind. I am just trust truly concerned. When I am exposed to the negativity I see on
the internet it has an effect on me. It
could be that all of this negativity is a result of where society is to some
extend because that is what gets the clicks or what makes the headlines I
guess. But bigger picture I have been asked
why am I such an optimist? The truth is
I am not really I feel I do not have much of a choice no one else really does
either if they are going to continue living.
The song Beautiful Creature is featured on The Juliana Hateflied Three’s
album Whatever My Love which is available on vinyl. I got confused because Juliana released an
album in 2000 called Beautiful Creature I just figured the single Beautiful
Creature would have been on the album Beautiful Creature which is not the
case. I do not see the song Beautiful
Creature listed on the album Whatever My Love but on youtube where I discovered
the song the information indicates that Beautiful Creature is on the album Beautiful
Creature so if I find in additional information I will discuss it. It is an interesting topic for people who
are not music lovers or most probably are not that picky when it comes to how
they consume music well I am. When I
listen to music on a boom box or even a radio I can hear stuff that I have
never heard before. Youtube is an
excellent tool to discover or rediscover music. But I do not think you are really getting
the whole experience by just listening or seeing a musican or band on
YouTube. For example: I can really hear the base of a song on a
boom box or even I-Heart Radio. I can understand
why some musicans and bands do not like youtube because they do not get paid or
it is footage from a concert. I do not
understand how someone can enjoy a concert while recording on their phone but
that is just me. I got to absorb it and
take it all in. In conclusion human
beings are born narcissistic and if it is not beaten out of us at an early age it
will stay there for the rest of our lives. Narcissism is a huge issue. I am going to probably make some Talking
Heads fans mad but before I do that I will say I am a huge fan of The Talking
Heads. The Talking Heads in my opinion
do not get the recognition that they deserve.
My bionic eyes from The Indie Queen Liz Phair is very reminiscent of The
Talking Heads. If one of my favorite
musicans or bands come to town for a concert I hope to go. One of the main reasons there may not be a
next time. I do not think I would enjoy
a concert because I probably would not be able to hear it or it will be too
loud. But there is something special
about sharing an experience with random strangers absorbing and feeding over
the positive energy that the performer is giving away to the audience. The most important aspect to all of this do
not take these musicans and bands for granted! I am some sort of a fanatic. When I was growing up discovering this stuff
it was for me like discovering a new world.
I have heard the phrase once a drummer always a drummer. Again do not take these people granted
because what will happen is one day you will regret it. In most cases it will be a musican or a band
that no one in your family or even your friends will have heard of but take the
chance! I guess I am being narcisstic
again do not let that thought get into your mind because all that thought is it
is a doubt to try and make you feel guilty.
Here is my thinking about this most people do not get a chance to do
things that they would like to do. So
when the opportunity presents itself take it there may not be a second
opportunity. I am not saying do not
care about others feelings and opinions but do not deny yourself any pleasure
especially when there may not be a next time!
God bless the American housewives.
It is a great song by the all-female country pop group SheDasiey. I am a rocker at heart but I am also from
Tennessee and from the south. I will say
it again God bless the American housewives.
God bless The American housewives is a take-off on the television series
Desperate Housewives. Juliana Hateflied
has a song on her album Beautiful Creature and a chapter in her excellent memoir
called Cool Rock Boys now people probably think that being a Cool Rock Boy would
be cool but it is not. I would probably
think a Cool Rock Girl would be a great thing.
But Cool Rock Boys for Juliana are immature and are a mess. But and I could be wrong this is my own
interpretation Juliana says she is in love with the idea of the eternal
boy. I guess it sounds cool until I delve
into the meaning then it is not so cool.
I will try not to take these people for granted I can’t guarantee anything
life gets in the way sometimes. I tend to forget about certain musicans and a
couple years go by and I think what happen to that musican? That is the main reason why musicans
struggle selling new music because fans have to be aware of it. It is tough because fans now have to seek
out new music from their favorite musicans.
Sonjay Dutt finally after a 14 year journey became The X-Division
Champion on the Thursday June 15th 2017 edition of Impact On Pop by
defending Low-KI with a splash from the top in his hometown of India. In The past Sonjay has been called The
Greatest X-Division Wrestler to never hold the title well not anymore! Congregations Sonjay good things happen to
those who wait! I am really enjoying
Impact right now with the return of Joseph Park. Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner will return to
the 15 year anniversary event Slammiversary LIVE Sunday July 2nd
2017 on Pay-Per-View! One of my favorite people Don West will return
to the announce desk to call Slammiversary!
Don is an Impact Original dating back 15 years ago. If I did need another reason to order the
Pay-Per-View I do now! In my book Don
West is great! Juliana Hateflied
released a gorgeous song called candy wrappers from her album There Is Always
Another Girl. Well the song is not
gorgeous in the traditional sense of the word it is extremely dark and I agree
with Aimee Mann when she said that so called happy songs are not always so happy. When she has been asked by people why her
songs are so depressing. I am not
really familiar with Juliana’s album There’s Always Another Girl but I love the
darkness of it and it is loveable as well in some kind of way. I know by reading her memoir she is not
comfortable with idol worship by her fans but when I call her an Alternative
Rock Goddess I am giving Juliana her props in my own special way. I would not want her to feel
uncomfortable. I just dig the flannel
T-shirts and the dark neckless with camouflage boots. The
aspect that I admire most about Juliana is she is who she is. Juliana does not change her image based on
what she thinks her fans want her to be.
In others words she is authentic maybe she does not smile enough for
some people’s taste that is what I admire most about her. I really do not understand Gene Simmons
mindset this guy is threating to copy write the rock devil horns. The horns
that are synonymous with hard rock and heavy metal music. Just
because MR. Simmons used it on the cover of the Kiss album Love Gun does not
make it so. Ronnie James Dio never wanted credit for the
symbol he never claimed to have invented the horns. Ronnie was just satisfied that fans used the
symbol. I do not get it just be content
that the symbol has had such longevity.
But again I have to remind myself that I am a just a fan. Meredith Brooks once said in an interview
that she congratulates people who have a nervous breakdown. The reason why in her words you need
breakdown for breakthrough and that she does not think that we are ever willing
to change because of our human nature until it gets so bad that we have to
breakdown for breakthrough for that change.
Meredith said in the same interview with The Associated Press that she
knows there have been times in her life where she has not cared at all and been
numb. When she sings the lyrics from
her #1 hit song bitch that I’m numb I’m revived you can’t say that I am not
alive she means it! I can’t convince
anyone in my family of this so I have stopped trying. Nina Persson who is the front woman of the
Swedish alternative rock band The Cardigans is one of my favorite
musicans. The Cardigans are probably best
known for their 1990s hit single lovefool which I have to admit is not one of
my favorites. It has to be a positive
and a detriment for Nina because she is extremely hot but also is a very
well-rounded musican. One of my
favorite ballads from The Cardigans is called for what it’s worth which is a
beautiful written song with a harmonica thrown in there. I am a sucker for the harmonica. My all-time favorite Cardigans song is my
favorite game from their album Grand Turismo.
Nina released her first solo album called Animal Heart in 2014. I did not know what to expect but it is
great. I will admit that Nina has an intriguing and
sexy singing voice which adds to the enjoyment but that should not take away
from The Cardigans or Nina Persson’s talent.
I think if it does for some people they are missing out. I have not heard of many musicans who stage
drive during concerts Jeff Buckley and Iggy Pop come to mind immediately. Iggy would have the audience sort of pass
him around and he would have his arms out like he was Moses. Jeff Buckley drove off the stage at a
concert one night in Boston and while he was sort of doing his thing a fan
stole his wallet. Jeff just trusted his
fans and had such a bound with them that he knew that the audience would not
let him go. I really admire that sprit of
living in the moment. I have seen
footage of Joan Jett in Iraqi or Afghanistan where she sort of does a back
reverse dive and the troops in audience sort of pass her around. I guess there are some benefits to stage
driving. I would think all I would want
to do is make the audience feel good and also to have them feed off the energy
that the performer is giving to them. I
respect and appreciate Dave Grohl but there are other rock acts other than Dave
Grohl. Rival Sons is a great hard rock
they remind of a 1970s throwback musican or band in terms of their sound. The Pretty Reckless is an excellent hard
rock band. Halestorm is another band
that I do not think gets enough play.
Dorothy I am not sure if they are really a new band but they are
great. The point is there are other
rock musicans and bands other than Dave Grohl. Every time there is an award show and they need to fill a category for
rock the people involved always say Dave Grohl they do not give it a second
thought. It is not Dave’s fault I like Dave
and because he is so prominent he has been able to play with many of his heroes
such as: Tony Iommi who was the guitarist for Black Sabbath and Joan Jett etc. Joan has been a huge influence on me. Dave Grohl plays the drums on any weather
from Joan Jett and The Blackhearts album Unvarnished. I am not trying to knock Dave Grohl Eddie Trunk
said that in all the years he worked at VH1 Classic everytime he was at a
meeting the name Dave Grohl came up at least 15 times during a
conversation. Eddie said that
executives act as if there is no one else in the world of rock besides Dave
Grohl and that is one of the many reasons the rock industry is struggling. Laura Brangian did well this to me is only
one of her many great songs entitled reverse psychology this song is
reminiscent of Paula Abdul in terms of the dance vibe. Reverse psychology is on Laura self-titled
album Laura Branigan. Laura was
extremely playful during interviews I think because she was an introvert music
was an outlet for her to try and overcome some of that. Ted Nugent is probably best known for his
political views and I admire people who speak their version of the truth in
some cases I may not agree but I respect it.
An example: on the other side one of my favorite alternative rockers
Juliana Hateflied I respect that she is open and honest about her political views
and about life in general. But Uncle
Ted is a fine picker a picker is a blues term that is used to describe a guitar
player. Uncle Ted says that he is just
a guitar player and if the rest of the world does not like it they have country
western to rely on. Ted does refer to
himself as: Uncle Ted and also refers to himself in the third person as: Uncle
Ted. If you can’t lick lick em is an
album and song that I would put up there as one of my favorites. Free for all is one that I would put on my
list. The last one on my list when it
comes to both album and song from Uncle Ted Little miss dangerous. All of these albums on my list have crisp
guitar riffs and really heavy drum beats.
I hope that I have made it obvious that I really do not care what a
person’s religious or political views are expect if they are trying to force
their beliefs on to others other than that
I do not care. I guess that is
part of my artistic side. People have asked me how you get someone who
is not a Christan to maybe become a Christan I say lead by example and maybe
they will notice something different about you. That all comes from in my opinion from The
Holy Spirit. That does not mean that
you change and become condescending and speak Christianizes. Some Christans get into this mindset of I
have to save this person’s soul. That
to me is the wrong way to go about it.
Just act like you normally would act and they will notice that there is
something different about that person and maybe The Holy Sprit will work inside
of them and help them make that choose.
No one can make anyone confuses and accept Jesus Christ has their Lord
and savior ultimately that is a personal decision. But I do believe that human beings were made
to help others make the decision to make Jesus Christ their lord and savior but
that does not mean a person has to be conceding about it. It should always be done with the intent of
helping others. During the 1997 MTV
Video Music Awards Fiona Apple won for Best New Artist. A lot has been made of this speech and I do
not really know why. I think all Fiona
was expressing is do not take your advice from them and do not look at them as
role models. In other words be yourself
was the message I think Fiona was trying convey. Fiona did say in her acceptance speech at
least that the audience was cool. Again
in 1999 people made a big deal about the name of her album instead of whether
it was good or not. I do not get
it. I think people were missing out by
just complaining. I am a huge fan of
Fiona Apple she is very talented. Fiona
was a part of that alternative rock mix in the late 1990s. In the film True Lies where Jamie Lee Curtis
is during her thing the song that is played in the background is called alone
in the dark by John Hitait. I think alone in the dark is a prime example
of why I refer to John as: The Real Deal.
John Hitait is a cross between country rock with a mixture of the
blues. I think True Lies is one of Bill
Paxton’s best roles True Lies and Twister are the two at least for me. There is also Aliens etc. I
love Bill Paxton playing the sleazy con man/used car salesman. There are so many wonderful lines that MR.
Paxton uses in the film especially during the test car riding scene. Bill
said that he loved con men in movies in his words they are as American as
Apple-pie. Tom Arnold is extremely
funny in the movie as well. I also enjoyed
Tom Arnold on The Best Damn Sports Show Period on Fox Sports Net. I am not even really a sports fanatic but I
did love the show. I find it ironic how
many times Donald Trump was a guest on the program. Now President Trump was loved by the media
but the second he ran for President it was game on. I just it find ironic that’s all! Jillian Barberie Carmen Electra and Pamela
Anderson were frequent guests as well on Best Damn. I think the media is a huge problem in this
country. The reason I admired Andrew
Breitbart so much pretty much his objective was to destroy the mainstream media
in its current form Andrew did not mind that the mainstream was biased and colluded
with each other it was that they lied about it. I think that is what drives most people
crazy about the media. Andrew’s goal
was to try and make the media more fair and to admit that they have a
bias. His goal was to make the media
much like in Britain and The United Kingdom newspapers they admit that they
have bias in other words readers know what they are getting. I agree with that goal I despise the media
for a different reason I do not know why everything has to be out there for the
public to see. There needs to be some
level of decency out there and some privacy.
There are just many things the public does not need to know. Knowing all of this stuff I do not think by just
my using my own God given common sense it can’t be good for us psychologically to be exposed to all of the
everything is out there about everything all of the time. I want to respect other human beings and to
respect their humanity. Andrew
Breitbart also hated bullies he hated people who tried to immediate those with
whom they disagreed and to Andrew’s credit he took on the bullies. I do not understand let’s say people who
want to suppress speech I think being exposed and seeking out different points
of view causes emotional growth.
Emotional growth is not discussed enough but it is extremely important. No one can measure emotional growth to put
it another way when people lose weight people wonder how they did it but no one
can measure emotional growth. One of
the points I am trying to make being exposed to different points of view is a
good thing. The problem is there are
some people and they know who they are they have to be right. There are people who will do anything to win
an argument. There is nothing good
about that. What it turns into most of
the time is name calling. Not everyone
thinks like you but being exposed to different points of view may help people
grow emotionally and spiritually. I
think if you are growing person you should seek out voices and opinions that
you may agree or disagree. There is not
much growth in hearing the same opinions over and over again. There is growth in seeking out opinions and
points of view that you have not heard.
There may be opinions that change your mind or at least get you to think
in a different way. One of the problems
especially on college campuses college students are being taught that if they
disagree with an opinion or point of view that they are personally being
attacked. Until that mindset changes I
do not know what can be done. Many
adults are the same exact way. Adults
are wondering what is going on not recognizing that they are part of the
problem. I learned this the hard way that
the majority of people do not care how you feel they care how you act. Which I have to admit sucks! But that is unfortunately how life is. But college students are being taught the
exact opposite that their feelings are the only thing that matters and they
must be protected at all times. In the song my sister by: The
Juliana Hateflied Three Juliana does
not have a sister some of the lyrics are about Juliana she is signing about
some of her own insecurities. This
factitious sister that Juliana has construed in the story is someone she feels she
can not measure up. When Juliana sings
she’s built a wall around her that nobody can climb that is what she is
referring. When Juliana signs the
lyrics she would have been the one who took me to my first all-ages show Juliana
is paying tribute to a friend that she had when she was growing up that in her
own words treated her better than a sister.
When I said in an earlier part
of this section that when I was growing up discovering music was like
discovering a new world in that respect that is one of the many aspects of Juliana’s
music I can relate. The success of my
sister I think surprised Juliana but it gave her hope that she was not as alone
as she thought. Become What You Are and
The For The Birds EP by The Juliana Hateflied Three have to be essential albums
for me. After reading Juliana’s memoir I discovered that Juliana Hateflied and
Aimmee Mann are truly both creatures of the night. I love a lot of MS. Hateflied’s so called
harder stuff which can found on some of Juliana’s LPs and EPs. Examples:
nobles oblige and my protégé from one of Juliana’s LPs or it may been an
EP I am not quite sure that is entitled
Total System Failure. [Juliana’s Pony}:
This EP has been compared to Chrissy Hynde.
I would hope that would make Juliana’s smile! In
the business of radio they call many of these songs deep cuts or deep
tracks. I found someone is a song that was made famous by Cher
but and I like both versions but I think I prefer Laura Brangian’s version of I found someone which can be
found on Laura’s album Hold Me. I
found someone was written by Michael Bolton.
I have to give the dude his props he is a craftsman when it comes to sure
songwriting. While I am on this role of
giving compliments this probably the one that is surprises me the most Sonny
Bono wrote for Cher bang bang my baby shot me down for her. This song is probably featured on one of
Cher’s early albums from the late 1960s.
I give Sonny Bono a lot of grief but in this case he gets my props. Bang bang my baby shot me down was probably
made famous by Nancy Sinatra which is featured on one of the Kill Bill
soundtracks. Which is where I
discovered the song. If Cher was ever
to do a duet with anyone I prefer Greg Allman.
I am not sure especially people who are my age and who are maybe a
little younger realize what a pioneer Greg Allman and maybe more specifically
The Allman Brothers were in brining country rock into the mainstream The Eagles
are in that category as well. But for someone like me who has such an appreciation
for this music it is an extremely important distinction. Greg Allman left an extremely influential
legacy when it comes to country rock.
This brings up for me another extremely important point do not take
these musicans for granted because one day you will regret it! Robin Beck recorded a version of tears in
the rain for her debut album Trouble Or Nothing. Cher recorded a version of save all your
tears Robin Beck also recorded a version of save all your tears while I like
both version I prefer Robin Beck’s version of save all your tears. Robin Beck and her husband James Christan of
the 1980s hard rock band House Of Lords are two of my favorite musicans. Speaking of pioneers but in a completely different genre of electronic dance music or EDM Jade Starling and Pretty
Poison do not get enough play in my opinion.
I do not really keep up with
popular music of today but it seems to me that this is a great time for dance
music Lady Gaga etc. Jade Starling has released some excellent electronic
dance music or EDM in recent years that I have to admit is wonderful. I am not really much of fan of much of this
music but I really love and enjoy much of Jade’s music. I like some of Lady Gaga’s music the reason
she took her sound and style in a completely different direction an example:
diamond heart from her album Joanne.
This album is really a nice work of art. Lady Gaga obviously is a hybrid when it
comes to her musical style. Which means
that she was influenced by many different musicans and musical styles. I love what her message seems to be at least
for me is a message of love. That is
only one of the unique aspects of music it is a universal language. Anytime there is a moment of just making
follow human beings feel better or feel not so alone or whatever emotion a
musican or any other artist is trying to get a person to feel it is a positive
thing. Even sadness I realize no one
wants to be sad or depressed but it is part of life the sooner everyone accepts
that this is part of human nature and one of the unfortunate aspects of life I
think the more connected we will be as human beings. Music is just one way for that
connection. I think in Lady Gaga’s
small way but believe me it is not small for those fans that feel connected to
her through her music that maybe the only glimmer of hope that they have
especially when you are growing up and you do not have prospective. That connection maybe at a certain point one
of the important connections a young person or anyone can have I am just using
young people as an example but anyone at any time can have that connection and
it may only happen for some people through music. I admire Lady Gaga’s objective which to me
seems to me is all about trying to bring people together through her
music. I am not sure The Terminator was
wrong in the movie Terminator 2 Judgment Day when John Connor asks The
Terminator we’re not going to make it are we?
The Terminator says “it is in your nature to destroy yourselves.” I think there is more wisdom in that
statement then I care to admit. I think
there are many individuals who would like for us to come together as a country
but unfortunaly having a country that is divided in so many ways is how individuals
keep their power. I enjoy the cure it
is beautifully written and is a song from Lady Gaga’s album Joanie. In
this world in which there are a minority at least I choose to believe it is a
minority of individuals who make a decision to just tear everyone and everything
down I admit that there was a time when I used social media where I became confused
and started to believe that what I saw was how everyone behaved. The main reason I was beginning to feel this
way I was exposed to it everytime I used social media. It is like all of the trash headlines from
the mainstream media once you go down that rabbit hole it gets harder to come
back to reality. I made a decision to
not live my life that way. The reason
is simple I only have so much time and energy and human beings are only on the
planet for only a number of hours when I boil it down. That brings me to an important point when I
hear people say I’ll sleep when I’m dead I think how do you know you will be
able to sleep when you’re dead? The point is any opportunity you have to get
some rest take it! Robin Beck is a
great singer and songwriter there are many great songs and albums that Robin
has done. She recorded a version of a
song called a prayer for Jane which is an intense and a heartfelt version of a
prayer for Jane. A prayer for Jane is
available on Robin’s album Can’t Get Off.
Robin Beck is a musician that I think if you have an appreciation for
1980s hard rock or are a music fan in general I think Robin Beck is someone you
should at least be familiar. Robin
Beck’s husband was the front man of the 1980s hard rock band House Of Lords and
he has also made some great solo albums and written some excellent songs. James is also a great record producer. Juliana Hateflied in her memoir is constantly
referring to herself as a bitch or being a bitch. She says at one point in the memoir that
when she listens to her records she wonders who the stranger she is listening
and that she does not recognize who this person is. It is almost as if Juliana feels that the
best qualities of her personality are left on her songs and never seen
again. I am sure if not most artists
feel that way Bruce Springsteen for example seems to feel that way. Just
watch Bruce’s VH1’s Storytellers or most of his songs for example. Many artists seems to be extremely hard on
themselves. When it comes to
performances but I am sure the fans the people who they admire and have a
connection do not care or notice. Well
that’s not true because of social media everybody can be really brave. Here is the thing about those folks they are
probably not even fans so if you have a following you probably have to sort
through a lot of bull shit to get to the real fans. That
is what matters but importunely that does not seem to be at least to me what is
seen on the majority of social media which is unfortunate. Juliana Hateflied seems to be really hard on
herself I am not sure if that has to do with being artist but I’m sure that is
part of it. I think maybe that is what
some people are attracted to art. It is
why I watch maybe only a handful of movies and listen to the same songs and
albums because there is a comfort there it is something familiar. That is why human beings need art in their
lives for comfort joy etc. It is why
hobbies and just having a passion is so important. Juliana Hateflied has written some dark
angry songs but she has also written some of the most beautiful songs about
loneliness alienation and just being compassionate towards follow human
beings. An example: at least for me my baby from
Juliana’s album How to Walk Away. No
one who wrote a song with such a level of emotion and just love can be that bad
of a person. This is just my own
interruption. Juliana seems to just put
every emotion that she has into this song.
It is quite something. Doro
Pesch has a song called don’t you mistake it for love it is wonderful the
darkness and heaviness of don’t you mistake it for love make it all worth
it. It may be considered a deep cut but
it is really hard and heavy. I got the
term stay hard stay heavy from Doro Pesch.
I also got the metal horns or
devil horns from Doro Pesch. I am glad
that Doro and Lemmy never tried to copy write the term stay hard stay heavy. They are probably just satisfied that I am
just using it. Doro sings a version of
the Ronnie James Dio classic the chains are on beautifully. I know referring to
a hard rock song as beautiful is odd but Doro just makes this song her own and
it is gorgeous. I have heard so many
different versions of the same stories about Ronnie James Dio from so many different
people about how giving Ronnie was with his time. Ronnie was always about giving people their
moment. Some people who have some level
of success sort of loose touch with fans or feel they do not have time for them
I think they are hurting themselves by doing that. I
know certain fans can be impulsive to meet people they admire or they can also
be downright rude but I think giving people their moment in Dio’s words is
extremely important because you are acknowledging back to the fans you mean
something to me! The artist will probably never remember
meeting all of the people they meet but the fans will remember it for the rest
of their lives! I always think about the gesture of giving a
person their moment. It can probably be
overwhelming at times because most artists don’t want to disappoint their fans
but here is the thing to remember you are not going to please everyone it can’t
be done. Juliana Hateflied says in her
memoir that she knows that there are times where she has disappointed fans
because she was not what they expected her to be. But she respects her audience enough to
present herself as who she is. I read a
review of the memoir that said it does not seem like Juliana likes to spend
time with her fans. I have not gotten
that at all from reading the memoir I think she does appreciate her fans I
think Juliana may not know how to express her appreciation and that may come off as not caring or not wanting
to be somewhere. Or just aloof. I
will never understand the quest or pursuit of fame. Doro Pesch released another classic from the
album Machine 2 Machine called are they coming for me? This is the same album that has don’t you
mistake it for love on it. I say it is another excellent work from The
Metal Queen Of The World! My favorite Pat Benatar song is called shadows of the night from her album Get Nervous. I have always been a huge fan of Pat
Benatar. I also love the song all fried
up from her album Wide Awake In Dreamland.
I have alright mentioned treat me right and the album Crimes Of
Passion. I have used Crimes Of Passion for
examples in terms of sound for many different musicians that I have
discussed. For Wayne’s World I hope
those characters are somewhat the way I am or the approach I have to life. No I am not kidding! I love rock’n roll and I try to be pretty
laid back. But I am sure the people who
know me do not think so but I can dream.
I am a work in progress just like anybody else. I do not hold myself to that of high of a standard. One of the characters from Wayne’s World or
The Dude from Lebowski either one I will take it. I keep hearing that The Dude was lazy in The
Big Lebowski well he was in some kind of way.
But he did care about other people maybe to a fault. The Dude is someone who if you do not bother
him he will not bother you. The Dude is
someone who is just content even if what he has accomplished is very
little. But I think it would be good
for some of us to just take that advice.
Just be content every day you wake and stay the hell away from the
mainstream media and social media. I
wish more people could just be content with accomplishing very little. Some people have this I have to accomplish
this and then it is on to the next thing.
But if you are living your life that way there is no one way you can
have any level of satisfaction. There
can’t be any. Human beings are the only animals who are
aware of their own mortality they know they are going to die. But here is some wonderful advice: Life is
going to happen whether you want it to or not. It is comforting to me to know that I am not
really in control in the big scheme of life so I say just take life as it comes
and do not worry about the rest. The
bad times in life are going to happen whether you want them or not so in the meantime try and have a little fun! One
of my favorite Heart songs is called never.
I love the heaviness of this song in terms of the tempo and base. Ann and Nancy Willison put their sweetness
and sexiness into this song as well.
Nancy Willison is a hell of a guitar player! Ann
and Nancy Willison are magic every time they play together. I hope they do play together again! Even with Wynona Judd they are great
together. Wynona said that she had a
dream that she was the third Willison sister.
Dune is a non-album track from Juliana Hateflied. I love the darkness of this song. I read somewhere that said in Dune Juliana’s
got the blues. I am not sure about
that. But the darkness and heaviness of
the guitar riff is what I love about this non album track. It seems to me just as a fan of MS.
Hateflied that she can do almost anything musically. Juliana performed a great acoustic version
of the ultra-feminist classic you don’t own me. I have a theory on why I love rock’n roll
from Joan Jett and The Blackhearts was such a big hit particularly with the
ladies. The song is about a young woman
who notices a guy standing next to a record machine who must be about 17 years
old. He smiles at her and she asks the guy if she
can take him home with her so they can be alone and have sex? It is
about a young girl who violently pursues this guy and wants him as her
own. In the song she will stop at
nothing until this dude becomes her baby!
Or as Suzi Quatro: would put it cans the can! That is why I love rock’n roll was such a big hit for Joan Jett and
The Blackhearts it is a female empowerment anthem! But it was not so much a hit for the British
rock band The Arrows who wrote and first recorded it. I
love rock’n roll is a prime example to me of the cruse of being known for one
hit. But there is much better Joan Jett
and The Blackheart songs and albums out there!
For example: The Runaways even MS. Jett’s stuff with Miley Cyrus is
worth at least checking out. I thought
when Joan Jett referred to Miley as a rocker at heart during Joan Jett and The
Blackhearts 2015 Rock’n Roll Hall Of Fame Induction afterword speech I think
that was MS. Jett’s way of giving Miley her props and showed at a lot of class
and humility on her part. Joan Jett’s stuff with Dave Grohl is pretty
good as well. Juliana Hateflied wrote a
great song called just lust what makes this song unique and wonderful at the
same time Juliana sounds tired when she recorded it. Which makes it sound more authentic. I mean that in the most positive way
possible. Just lust is on Juliana’s
album How To Walk Away. There is
nothing wrong with a man crying it may make Charles Barkley uncomfortable but there
is nothing wrong with it. Life happens
and everyone has to deal with loss and sadness. There is nothing wrong with it. Pat Benatar would say you can cry tough in the
night. I am not talking about crying at
the drop of a hat. I am talking about
real sadness. Don Dokken once said in
an interview: that life is not an up perfect thing. But people come to concerts and think I wish
I had that guy life. It is not reality even if you have the fame
and the money and the women we are all human and sometimes we all wake up moppy. Which does not make anyone a bad person it
makes us all human. If a girlfriend
cannot take you’re crying break up with her.
Ask her I thought you want the whole package? Guys seem to need a lot of mothering at
least some guys do just know that going in rock on! I saw something where someone made a comment
that said that Kim Gordon who is one of the lead singers of the influential alternative
rock Sonic Youth that Kim Gordon would sing you a lullaby and then shoot up
your house with a machine gun and set your house on fire and laugh about
it. I think that pretty much sums it up
about Kim Gordon. She is intense
interring and can sing a sweet lullaby to get what she wants. Sonic Youth has always been one of one of my
favorite alternative rock bands. Sonic
Youth has been called one of the most influential bands in history by some so called
music experts. I think one of the reasons
for this Sonic Youth has such a unique and interring sound. There really is not a musician or band that I
can compare the sound of Sonic Youth.
They really are a band that has their own sound and they own it! I can give many different examples but the
song I think of is called Dude Ranch Nurse from their album Sonic Nurse. I can understand why some would not like Sonic
Youth because they have such a different sound. They are an acquired
taste. That is one reasons it is
called alternative rock it is a choice.
I think Tori Amos summed it up best when she said her music is like anchovies. Tori summed it up perfectly. For the record I love Shairly Manson’s
lullabies I love Tori Amos’s lullabies and Belly singer Tanya Donnelly’s
lullabies. It is that quit intensity or lull in which I
have discussed. Kim Gordon is also very much in favor of the
Pussy Riots which is a term that is used in Russia to describe a female
uprising in Russia. I am not making up the term “Pussy Riots” that
is what Vladimir Putin refers to a female uprising as. I found a live performance on youtube of
Sonic Youth with Kim Gordon on vocals of a song called Sonic Nurse from their
album of the same name on The Late Late Show with Greg Killborn. The reason Sonic Youth is so important their
sound is just so different and Sonic Youth is an alternative rock band but they
first got together back in 1981. So
this was before Nirvana and the post Nirvana wave that happened in the late
1990s. Which gave rise to the
popularity of alternative rock which only lasted for a short blimp. Well it was around in the 1980s and the
early 1990s but alternative rock has never been in the mainstream like it was
in the late 1990s and lot of that happened because of the exposure by MTV. Because very few radio stations wanted to
take a chance. Because this music did
not appeal to the mainstream corporations were hesitant to play and promote a lot
of alternative rock. That is why so many
alternative rock acts were on MTV one day and the next they were gone. Sonic Youth was able to whether that
storm. I think because Sonic Youth has
always had such a different approach to their music even though they were
classified has an alternative rock they were never hurt like many other alternative
acts were. I think maybe Radiohead and
Sonic Youth were always okay. I think
because Radiohead is a band that owns their own content that is why they were
always going to survive. I think because Sonic Youth and Kim Gordon’s vocals and
guitar playing style is so unique at first listen a causal listener probably
thinks what is this? But the more I
stick with Sonic Youth the more I grow to appreciate them. Sonic Youth probably influenced more musicans
and band then I realize. I am probably
I am in the Aimmee Mann camp I think there is some truth in that happy songs do
not create the best the music. Because
music allows the musicians or band to create their own personas and to express
emotions that otherwise society would shun them much like professional
wrestling. It is not right but that is
how most people are. Because society
teaches that every other emotion that human beings have expect happiness is
unacceptable. Music allows for that freedom that otherwise individuals
come off as aloof. I know a little bit
from my own experience unfortunately. I
am not proud of it. I was listening to an interview with Kim
Gordon where she said that without her musical persona she may otherwise come
off as aloof. It is wonderful to know
that I am not alone! But I am a work in progress and I am always
trying to work on myself. I am always
willing to try and evolve which I think can only be a good thing. My
being self-aware can only be a positive thing because if I am not evolving I am
dying. That goes for everybody on some level. Juliana Hateflied wrote a beautiful and
heartfelt ballad called let’s go home from Juliana’s album Peace and Love. I think this whole album is done
acoustically. Juliana sings this song
with such conviction and it seems like in this song Juliana is seeking
forgiveness. I can really hear the
sadness in Juliana’s voice it is so sweet.
The first song I ever heard from
Juliana Hateflied was I picked you. I
am probably considered one of Juliana’s newer fans but at least I finally discover
her music through the power of youtube.
I downloaded it on my Kindle.
Joan Jett has a punk rock song called gotcha this song was not released
on an album it was recorded for a movie with Linda Fiorentino. I need more cowbell! Gotcha is a song that has the unappreciated
cowbell in it. Gotcha from Joan Jett reminds me of a song
by the alternative rock band from the 1980s called X. Fiona Apple performs a haunted and gorgeous
and bizarre version of I want you which was originally written and performed
by Elvis Costello. MR. Costello
accompanies on guitar with Fiona Apple on vocals. I
have listened to both versions of the song I prefer Fiona’s version of the
song. She is just so wackily
talented. In Fiona Apple’s version of
I want you it starts off so sweetly and then it just becomes a completely
different song. It starts off so sweetly
lovingly and towards the end of the song she becomes extremely angry. Elvis Costello adds a little too it with his
blues sounding guitar. Fiona Apple is
so good she has a sound that is sort of a strange musical style that I will
admit that it is not for everyone but once you are addicted to Fiona Apple’s
sound and I am for one am addicted. To
put it another way Fiona Apple has pampered me. Another
song that I think is worthy of note at least for me is called on the bound from
Fiona’s album that people made such a big fuss about the title of her album
When The Pawn… Or maybe paper bag
which is also from Fiona’s album The Pawn.... I like that Fiona Apple does
things on her terms. One of the reasons
I am attracted to Fiona Apple’s music is the darkness of it. I hope that listening and finding so much
different music has mellowed me out a lot.
Some people meditate I pray and read The Bible and listen to a ton of music
I also watch great professional wrestling matches as well. I am
really trying to make some kind of an effort for me to mellow out and be laid
back. People who do not really know me
will tell me how easy going I am. But
sometimes I get the sense that the people that I am really close are scared of
me well they are scared of offending me.
I will admit to having strong
opinions I think because I am passionate about my opinions the people who are
the closest to me think I am mad at them like they do not have a right to
disagree with me or to have their own differing opinion. It is not the vibe I want to give off to
anyone. I am trying to work on this within
myself. In this respect I am much like
Mandy Moore. Mandy has gone on record
expressing that she hates her first couple albums. I do not think in my pocket is a bad
song. I have in my pocket downloaded on
Kindle from Mandy Moore Greatest Hits.
I like MS. Moore version of the classic John Hitait have a little faith
in me which is also from her Greatest Hits.
I think Mandy is being a little too hard on herself. I do not know how most would be if like Mandy
that they got a record deal at only 15 years old. But
for Mandy think about all the times you appeared on MTV’s Total Request Live
you were like me a part of the TRL Generation which will never happen
again! I know Mandy has gotten into acting
and she has developed a more mature sound musically. There are some props from me to Mandy Moore
like she needs it from me. So for me I am
always trying to evolve and mature.
There are quirks that I have that I am trying to get rid. There are other quirks that I know I have
that I will not be getting rid of because those quirks are the ones that make
me who I am the quirks that me unique. This sort of stuff probably keeps me from
going into a deep depression many times during the course of my life
that is one of the reasons art is so important. But
I do agree with Adam Carolla that if you are a musician you will play
music. But I do think music should be available
in public school so children can at least be exposed to music. I know that people who are not music
aficionados will say what is the big deal about music education? Well I look at it like anything else in
education you may not use everything you are exposed to in school but at least
you are exposed to it just to see if you have a knack for it. There have been many times in life where I
have been obsessed with music. It means
that much to me. I gotta rock! For the people in your life who think you
are a bit odd if they are you’re really friends and family they will get
it. My natural demeanor when I wake up
every day is to be depressed. But I have
to fight my own human nature because my mood has an effect on others. The one aspect about happiness it is not a
selfish desire. Most people probably
think being happy is a selfish desire because they think I want to be happy for
me. When in reality I want to be happy
for the benefit of others who are around me.
Listening and playing music is the best way I know how to do that to
help me battle my own human nature.
Others may have a different approach and whatever works for them stick
with it. Even if your friends and
family think you are a bit odd. If they
are really true friends and family they will get. There is only one era I like from Bonnie Raitt
it is her music from circa 1977 or maybe just Bonnie’s music from the 1970s. Bonnie Raitt collaborated with country rock
band Little Feat on my favorite Bonnie Raitt tune runaway. She did her own solo version of runaway on
her 1977 LP entitled Sweet Forgiveness.
Bonnie Raitt has also collaborated with John Hitait. Juliana Hateflied’s song I picked you up
there are lyrics in which I relate let’s make some music and talk everything
through I picked you you didn’t know it but you were saving me to. Let’s make some music and talk everything
through I picked up because I needed you.
Those lyrics I just can really relate.
There are people who will tell you emotions like that are selfish. But I love what Evanescence front woman acclaimed
singer songwriter Amy Lee said on this very subject Amy expressed it this way: “My
darlings, if I can’t write dark epic, dramatic dark epic music I can’t live”! It is comforting to know again that I am not
so alone and not so different from everyone else. That is another reason why this music is so
important to me. Tonight Sunday July 2,
2017 Impact Wrestling celebrates their 15 year anniversary with Slammiversary
15 LIVE from The Impact Zone in Orlando Florida. This is always an emotional time for me
every year Impact celebrates their anniversary because I have a fan and
supporter of Impact Wrestling since the very beginning. There will be an announcement of who will
be the next inductee into The Impact Hall Of Fame! Don West returns to his rightfully place
back at the announce table to raise hell like only Don West can! Don West and Jim Ross do the best hard
sells. Tony Schiavone did an excellent
hard sell when Hulk Hogan joined The NWO Kevin and Scott Hall during WCW’s Bash At The Beach 1996. Also Lance Russell could do an excellent
hard sell. The match I am most looking
forward is for The X-Division Championship Sonjay Dutt defends The X-Division
Title against Low KI in a 2 out of three falls match. Sonjay deafened Low KI in his home country
of India. Before that time Sonjay was
considered The Greatest X-Division competitor to never hold The X-Division
Championship. Sonjay has been on a 14
year journey to accomplish his goal he never gave up. Sonjay and Low KI for The X-Division Title 2
out 3 falls is the match I am most looking forward. Joseph Parkk has returned and will be at Slammiversary
to team up with Jeremy Borash take on the team of Josh Matthews and Big Poppa
Pump Scott Steiner. I love that Big
Poppa Pump is back in Impact Wrestling.
I love Joseph Parkk and more specifically Chris Parkk also known as:
Abyss. The reason I have such an
admiration for Abyss he has such an appreciation for others. The Main Event will feature The Global Force
Wrestling Champion Alberto EL Parton taking on Walking Armageddon The Impact
World Champion Lashley the winner takes it all! Don West will do the hard sell like only he
can at Slammiversary 15 tonight on Pay-Per-View! The reason I still watch Impact Wrestling or
professional wrestling in general is I love it. I hope others love it as well. I am going to clear this up there is no such
thing as a smart mark in professional wrestling. The term smart mark is a term that was
coined by people who publish professional wrestling newsletters and the
internet. So for all those fans who are
smart to the business of professional wresting you are not smart to the business I am not smart to the
professional wrestling business the only individuals who are so called smart are
the individuals who participate in it and
the individuals who make their living in the professional wrestling
business. So I am sorry to break this
to the professional wrestling newsletters the internet and fans who think they
are “smart” you are just like everyone else you are a fan. For the fans who choose to watch
professional wrestling as being “smart” to the business I think you are not enjoying
it the best way possible. In other
words you are taking the fun out of it.
But that is only my view whatever choice certain fans make it is up to
them. But being a smart mark is a real misnomer. Last night at Slammiversary 15 Joseph Parkk
rediscovered his inner monster with the help and return of Father James
Mitchell. When Joseph Parkk hastened on
finding his inner monster there was Father James Mitchell to present Joseph
Parkk his Abyss mask Father Mitchell gave encouragement to Joseph Parkk by saying
Rise up Happy Slammiversary and then he did his sinister signature laugh! With that The Monster Abyss made his return
last night at Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary 15. Don West did not miss a beat last night
calling Slammiversary 15 last night. No
one can do the hard sell quite like Don West!
The Founder of both Impact and Global Force Wrestling gave an emotional
heartfelt speech. I love the humility
of MR. Jarett I would just like to say thank you to him. I will never realize the passion the
tireless work and dedication that professional wrestlers put into their
craft. But I do respect it and I am
grateful to be a part of it. At the end
of the day I am just a fan who still has an appreciation and respect for the
art form that is professional wrestling.
I am never angry with anyone for leaving a company and going
elsewhere. There is no off season in
professional wrestling and it is a business relationship and not an employee
relationship. Professional wrestlers can’t
be hired or fired by a promoter. Well
they can be let go and with being professional wrestlers they are basically
working for themselves. So if they are
not in a position they want to be they can leave and go somewhere else in order
to reinvent and reintroduce themselves to a different audience. Or they can come back when they are ready in
other words when they are ready to be in a position they want to be and where a
promoter can help get them to the next level.
Professional wrestlers only have so many miles in them and once they are
gone they are gone. That is why I think
professional wrestlers have to do what is best for themselves and their
families. Because only they know how
long they will be continually dedicated to the profession. I was a fan of Stevie Ryan when she
appeared on her own show Stevie TV on VH1.
My favorite sketch from Stevie TV was The Abstinence Gang. I remember when Stevie hosted VH1’s 100
Sexist Artists. Stevie was not afraid
to talk about the subject of sex which I admire. Stevie was a frequent guest on Alison
Rosen’s podcast Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend. Alison said that Stevie Ryan was funny kind
and the most real human being she has ever met. The first time I was aware of Stevie Ryan
was when she hosted VH1’s Sexists Artists I am not aware of everything Stevie
did but she was extremely hot and very interring. I am going to really miss her! I am like Tommy Lee the drummer of 1980s
hard rock band Motely Cure when I say I love this music I have been
discussing . I realize how blessed I am
to be able to listen to the music that I am an absolute fanatic. Most people are not as fortunate as I
am. They are unable to do what they
want to do. I am able to do what I want
to do for the most part. I am going to try and not take that for
granted. My favorite version of the
song Hallelujah is from Canadian singer songwriter Allison Crowe with accompaniment
of a piano. I also dig Allison’s noise
ring that is just a bonus for me which adds to the enjoyment! Hallelujah was
originally written and performed by Leonard Cohen. Hallelujah has been performed by a variety
of different musicans including: The Great Jeff Buckley and Jon Bon Jovi
etc. Many perceive hallelujah has a
hymn or a religious song but I think of it has pretty secular. It has religious imagery to it. But for those who perceive it has a religious
song or who are comforted by the song I say more power to you. My two favorite Laura Brangian songs are
moonlight on water and never in a million years. Both are from Laura’s self-titled album
Laura Brangian. It was hard for me to
narrow it down to two. But those are my
absolute favorites. Leonard Cohen originally
wrote and performed the single “Everybody Knows” which was covered by Don
Henley. “Everybody Knows” is available on
Don Henley’s Actual Miles Don Henley’s Greatest Hits. Sarah Mclachlan reached popularity in the
late 1990s and she was a part of the alternative rock package of the late
1990s. The cool think about Sarah
Mclachlan is she created a music festival called The Lilith Fair which was kind
of the equivalent of Lollapalooza but with females. Supposedly this festival came about in part
and I remember Madison Michele vividly saying this when she hosted a show on
VH1 called Women First that in the 1997 female artists out sold male artists by
a large percentage. I can’t remember
important things that matter in life but I remember this vividly! The female artist who set the president for
this is Shania Twain. Shania was able
to accomplish this by crossing over from just being a country artist into being
a pop artist. She did it with the
massive success of the song and music video you’re still the one. Shania’s success also came about with the
popularity of her album Come On Over.
The Lilith Fair featured many great female artists such as: Meredith
Books Pat Benatar The Indigo Girls and Liz Phair etc. Sarah
Mclachlan is probably one of several musicans that many people misconstrue the
lyrics of her songs. In my opinion some of Sarah McLachlan's best
work are her more haunting and darker sounding songs. An
example: her mega hit building a mystery.
But if you dig into the lyrics of this song it is not so beautiful. Building a mystery does not sound so sweet
to me. I am just going by the sound of
the music. Another example of a Sarah
Mclachlan song that is often misinterpreted is called angel. I do not even really care for this song but
there is another example. My favorite
Sarah Mclachlan song is called possession.
What I notice right away about possession is the darkness of it and how
downright haunting it is. But I have
noticed a lot of people like me love and have some kind of connection to this
song. So I feel better that it is one
of my favorites. Possession is another example to me of a
disturbing song but it is gorgeous at the same time. Which really seems to be a pattern with me when
I discuss the connection I have to a lot of this music dark and haunting but
beautiful in some way at the same time.
Most of the songs that provide me the most comfort are the ones that are
dark or haunting but are beautifully written and well-crafted musically which I
find bizarre. Because I do not have a
morbid curiosity of any kind. In fact I
am pretty much against having one. I
love Rebel’s Oklahoma accent her accent it makes her more intriguing. Since Christy Hemme is no longer with Impact
Rebel has been my favorite Impact Knockout since she debuted as Knox’s
girlfriend. But before Rebel my favorite
Impact Knockout was The Voodoo Queen Roxxi Laveaux. But for Rebel I hope she comes back to
Impact Wrestling soon if it works out.
Also if it is the best place for her to be. I was really glad to see Rebel join The
Dollhouse unfortunaly I do not think they got the run they could have. I love Rebel’s cowgirl boots and her cowgirl
hats. Rebel’s got that country sass
which makes her awesome. My favorite
Femme Fatale song is called Rebel from Femme Fatale’s 1988 self-titled album
Femme Fatale. I wish Rebel could use
Rebel from Femme Fatale for her entrance music one time that would be
cool! Lorraine Lewis was the front
woman of the 1980s hard rock band Femme Fatale. A couple years back Lorraine reformed Femme
Fatale with chicks. Lorraine is still
the front woman of the band. They
perform during The Monsters Of Rock tour.
Which takes place every year.
Lorraine formed a band called Blondie Jovi. Which was take off of Bon Jovi. I remember seeing a message on youtube from
Lorraine Lewis about her new band. It
was a kind message she thanked the fans.
Lorraine said that she was glad that the fans enjoyed the music. Which I appreciate that she would take the
time to personally reach out to a fan.
I know that Loraine Lewis is old enough to be my mother but I do not
care! A lot of the musicans I have discussed
are. Dr@am was one of my favorite I
know this is a derogatory term I do not mean it to be bubble gum pop. Dr@am was an all-female pop/R@B band. Dr@am was compared by many to The Spice
Girls. The Spice Girls by this time in
2001 had broken up years earlier. Dr@am
became popular do to their exposure on MTV’s Total Request Live or TRL. With the success of their music video he
loves U not which I enjoyed. Dr@am
frequently hosted TRL during their rise to popularity. I also like their music video and song this
is me. I like all of the girls in the
group but my favorite member of Dr@am was Holly. But and I liked all of the girls in the
group. But Holly was the girl in the
group that I first noticed. I do not
want to leave anyone out because I liked Ashley Diana and Melissa. Holly was interring and sexy to me because
she had red hair and looked very hot. I
know that sounds shallow but I am a guy.
The beauty just adds to the enjoyment of the music for me. Joan Jett covered up to the skies from Joan
Jett’s Hit List album. Which is a cover of hit songs. Up to the skies was originally performed by
Jimi Hendrix. Which I can’t find. But I found a version of up to the skies
from Ricki Lee Jones. The same Ricki
Lee Jones who performed and had a hit song with Chuck E’s in love. But I dig Joanie Jett’s version of up to
the skies. I wonder if I am allowed to
refer to Joan Jett as Joanie. I am not really friends with her but I do admire
her. So I mean it as a term of
endearment I love disscuing music I hope that I have not taken the fun out of
this music. I am extremely passionate
about the music that I have discussed and the music I hope to discuss in the future. But as I have discussed earlier I hope that
listening and discovering music that I love I hope I have become more mellow. I do not want to be so uptight. Any depression I may deal I use listening to
music for that remedy. But as I have
said earlier I am unafraid to evolve and to change. I think for people who are unwilling to
evolve or to change in some kind of way I think they are making a mistake. Or not living a more satisfying life. When
I have said in the past that discovering and listening to music recreationally
saved my life I mean it! I am not exaggerating or embellishing. It may sound sad to people who do not know
me. But I am probably not the only way
who has claimed that music saved their live.
In that respect I know I am not
so alone. Music is not a temporary fix
for me. I think if it is for some
people it will not work at least for not that long. Or as Liz Phair would say music is not a
primitive fix. Belinda Carlisle
released a song called lay down your arms.
Lay down your arms is on Belinda’s album Real. One of the reasons this song is one of my favorites
I love the crisp drum section. I am not
really a fan of the music video for lay down your arms. In the video Belinda is in the old west and
she is a cowgirl and she finds a cowboy that she thinks is cute. So
she lassoes the cowboy to be her own. But then she asks the cowboy where the money
is? Lay down your arms is another
favorite of mine from Belinda Carlisle.
The sound has been compared to a song called Malibu from the alternative
rock band Hole. The same Hole fronted by:
Courtney Love. People can say whatever
they want about Courtney Love but to me there is no denying her talent as a
musican. If Dave Grohl can forgive her
after all their back and forth that they have had since the end of Nirvana then
I can admit that Courtney Love is a great front woman. Malibu is a prime example for me of a great
song from Hole. Another excellent song
from Hole is called doll parts. I first
discovered this song when a faction in Impact Wrestling called The Doll House
used it as their entrances music. Which
was the perfect entrance music for The Doll House. The perfect entrance music in professional
wrestling can really enhance a talent.
I remember one time just mentioning Courtney Love’s name to someone and
this induvial immediately dismissed her.
I love doll parts but my favorite Hole song is Malibu. My favorite Divinyls song is called I’m
jealous. I’m jealous was featured on
soundtrack to the television show called Melrose Place The Music Soundtrack. I’m jealous is also on The Divinyls album
Underworld. The Divinyls became a one hit wonder with the
success of I touch myself. Even though The
Divinyls had been around since the 1980s but the band did not really reach
mainstream popularity until the late 1990s.
The frontwoman of The Divinyls was named Christina Amphlett. She went by Chrissy. I’m jealous was featured on alternative rock
radio stations of the era. The Divinyls
were not even an alternative rock band.
But they received some rotation from alternative rock stations. I love Chrissy’s voice it was very unique and
alluring. I love the beat of the song. I’m jealous also features an excellent heavy guitar riff and a nice heavy drum section.
The Divinyls were considered to be a new wave band. They were from Australia. I think they were maybe more popular in
their native land of Sidney but they did reach mainstream popularity in United States for a short time with the
success of I touch myself. I touch myself was featured in the first
Austin Powers film. Austin Powers
International Man Of Mystery. Jon Bon
Jovi took his band in a completely different direction from what the band started
as. Jon did this consciously after the
success of Bon Jovi’s album Keep The Faith.
He just looked around and saw that the popularity of his genre of music
was going away. So Jon Bon Jovi thought
I need to take this band into a completely different direction or I am not going
to have a band. So Jon changed his
image and the sound of the band. I have
to give Jon Bon Jovi credit I have always thought that Bon Jovi was always
Jon’s band. I do not mean to disrespect
anyone else who has been in that band or who is in Bon Jovi currently. But I think of Bon Jovi as Jon’s band. I have to give Jon Bon Jovi credit because
even though he has completely transformed his band into something completely
different Bon Jovi is the only band from their era that is still massively
successful. No other band from the era
can claim this. There is a lot of stuff
from Jon Bon Jovi’s solo album 7800 I really enjoy! Destination Anywhere is
another excellent solo album from Jon Bon Jovi. I realize I have disused this in a previous
section but I went a little more in depth about why the transformation with Bon
Jovi occurred. The alternative rock
band that started this whole journey for me Garbage has released some excellent
new material. The only reason I know
about Garbage’s new material I signed up for Garbage’s newsletter. I think signing up for newsletters is a way
for fans to keep up their favorite musicans and bands. Because it is very difficult to keep up with
musicans and bands signing up for newsletters is one way to do that. Magnetized is really a great song and from
my prospective does not really sound like their earlier work but I am still
very much a fan of it. Shairly Mansion
is rocking a new pink hairdo extremely well.
Empty is another great song and music video from Garbage. One of the aspects that made Garbage
different they used hip hop beats and dance beats. Much like Jade Starling and Pretty Poison
did in the 1980s Garbage did in the late 1990s. Garbage is going on tour with Blondie this
summer. Garbage also released a coffee
table book called The Noise That Keeps Me Awake. Which is a take-off of a Garbage song called
push it. I asked Jade Staring a question
on Facebook about how she would classify her band? To Jade’s credit she responded to my
question. The fact that she would take the
time to answer my question was an extremely sweet gesture to me. I became more of a fan of her’s after
that! Ronnie James Dio always talked about giving
people their moment. In my mind that
was an example of Jade giving me my moment.
There really was nothing like Debbie Harry of Blondie before Debbie
Harry. There have been musicans who
tried to copy Debbie Harry’s image sound and style but they failed. I think the main reason for this Blondie and
more specifically Debbie Harry was an original. I am sure if you ask a majority of white
guys what is the first rap song they ever heard? They would probably tell you rapture from
Blondie. That is just one example of
what made Debbie Harry and Blondie original.
I really love the taste of cherry coke.
I love actual cherries. I also
love strawberry ice cream and strawberry milkshakes. But I will digress. The French song is a wonderful song from
Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. Some of
the lyrics are in French and most are in English. The French song starts with the lyrics don’t
you be nervous baby I didn’t come to bring you harm. It
really is an excellent song. The French
song is available on Joan Jett and The Blackhearts greatest hits. This greatest hits album features you drive
me wild. Which was the first song Joan
Jett ever wrote. I love that the
greatest hits featured classics such as: Cherry Bomb. The
greatest hits features Joan Jett’s version with The Blackhearts. Cherrie Cherie originally performed Cherry
Bomb on vocals with The Runaways. But
I like Joan Jett and The Blackhearts version.
Have ya crab till you’re sore.
Miley Cyrus recorded a version of Cherry Bomb. Which is pretty good. I know that because I am a fan of
professional wrestling when I am watching the show and I am in the moment I am
just reacting I tend to overact. I do
this because I am a fan and I am in the moment and reacting to what I am seeing. So to other people I may sound a little
nuts. I am just a fan who is reacting
accordingly. Announcers are fans as
well so they are in the moment reacting to what they are seeing. So it may seem to some fans that many
announcers over sell a lot or cry wolf way to many times to be taken
seriously. But they are just fans announcers are trying
to react accordingly. I am a true believer when it comes to
professional wrestling. Everything I
see is 100% real to me. One of my big
pet peeves are how certain fans all want to be “experts” instead of just
enjoying it. I can understand where Al
Snow is coming from when he discussed his opinion on certain wrestling
fans. Al got a lot of grief from many
fans for his opinion. But all he was
expressing is there are a group of fans who think because they have access to
information they think they have some kind of knowledge. So these fans eventually become contentious
of the product. I do not know how
anyone could disagree with what he said.
I could not hang around with a bunch of so called “experts”. I cannot stand them on the internet I can’t imagine
being around “smart fans” in person. As
I said earlier they can do what they want.
But I agree with Al Snow that fans need to stop trying to be experts and
just enjoy the product. I do not know
if I mentioned this in an earlier section or not but just in case I did
not. One of my favorite Pretenders songs
is called night in my veins. From The
Pretenders album Last Of The Independents.
Night in my veins is kind of a return back to an earlier Pretenders
sound. I like that it is a rocking
sound. But night in my veins could pass
as a pop song. Nina Persson performed a
live version of the Led Zeppelin classic whole lotta love. I know that Zeppelin purest will probably
dismiss this version I do not know maybe because I am a fan of Nina’s is probably
one of the reasons I do not mind it.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page seemed to be enjoying themselves in the
audience. I loved this performance
because Nina did not try to imitate Robert Plant. She made it her own. Nina changed some of the lyrics in whole
lotta love to give it a female prospective.
I love Led Zeppelin I have the up most respect for them. Because Led Zeppelin laid the ground work
for so many different musicans and bands.
The music seemed to be the same.
I have had a ton of fun drumming to a whole lotta love. I just crank it on up! Whole lotta love was Led Zeppelin’s first #1
hit. Whole lotta love was written by
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Whole
lotta love was released in 1969. Whole
lotta love is a favorite of Christy Hemme.
Who fronts her own band called Hemme.
I tried to do the Joan Jett scream is the only way I know how to
describe it. I hurt my voice I could
not do it. I really would like to learn
how to do that scream. I would also
love to learn how to do the rock devil horns or the malochio. I remember telling someone that I like The
Bangles. This person thought the
football team? Which are The Bengals. But eventually he got it. He enthusiastically said to me oh that girl
is hot! I have heard Drake from Drake
in the morning radio show talk about how football announcers refer to The
Bengals as: The Bangles. Everybody
starts dancing and singing manic Monday.
Which was written by Prince. We
didn’t start the fire by: Billy Joel is about all the events that he feels his
generation is not responsible. I think anyone could write that today and I
think the lyrics still apply. I think
some of lyrics should be updated. That
is about it. One of my favorite
alternative rock bands from the early 1990s are The Breeders. The Breeders consisted of identical twin
sisters Kim and Kelley Deal. Now this
band was a little bit before my time.
But I still love this band. This
was in the early 1990s so this was still during the popularity of flannel T-shirts. With the help from exposure by MTV The
Breeders had their first #1 hit with the success of their music video and song
cannonball. From The Breeders album Last
Splash. Kim and Kelley both play
guitar. Kim played guitar and also
handled lead vocals. Jon Stewart must
be some kind of alternative rock fanatic.
Because before he hosted The Daily Show on Comedy Central he was a VJ on
MTV. Jon hosted his own talk show on
MTV called The Jon Stewart Show on MTV.
The Jon Stewart Show featured many alternative rock acts of the era such
as: The Juliana Hateflied Three and The Breeders. I know I say this a lot but The Breeders had
a sound that differentiate them from other musicans and bands of the era. I
love Kim Deal voice. It can sound really sweet. But also can be extremely aggressive. She
can change her voice accordingly. Kim
and Kelley Deal can harmonize together.
They can also play guitar at the
same time. Both Kim and Kelley can a have
guitar off if you will. The Breeders
also released an EP called Safari. One
of my favorite song from The Breeders is called Iris. Not Iris by: The Goo Goo Dolls. I think Kim Gordon may have produced an
album for The Breeders. Or was involved
in some way with the formation of The Breeders. Kim Deal released a single as a solo artist called
Are you mine? The Breeders are still
performing and are still together in some capacity with Kim and Kelley Deal
very much still at the helm. Kelley also played drums at one point. I am
not really sure who else is still in the band or who has left the band. But I love The Breeders Kim and Kelley Deal
they are one of my many favorite alternative rock bands. I just hope that they are not a band that
most people have forgotten. Because The
Breeders are just as one of kind now as they were during the height of their
popularity. I think this band has
maintained their niche fan base. I know that I discovered this band a little
late but I am still a fan. Kim Deal is
a great songwriter. I can understand
why her sister Kelley feels the best working with her sister Kim. That is where Kelley feels she does her best
work. Because she is a fan of her
sister’s music. Both Kim and Kelley
Deal are one of a kind musicans in their own right. Kim Deal is the songwriter of The Breeders
songs. It is an excellent combination! Another one of my favorite ballads from
Heart is called alone. This song has
been covered by: country artist Carrie Underwood. Alone has also been covered by Canadian hard
rocker Chrissy Steele. Which is my
favorite version of alone. It sort of
difficult to find. But it is still
great. The only solo album I find is called Magnet To
Steele. I agree with Ann Willison that
the 1980s were not Heart’s best decade in terms of their music. But alone is really a beautiful song. Alone is one of my favorite Heart
songs. Carrie Underwood performed alone
on American Idol. She also did a
performance of alone with Ann Willison.
I dig Carrie Underwood’s banana.
It is sort of reminiscent of Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac. Might be in love is a beautifully written
song from Juliana Hateflied. This song
is from Juliana’s album Beautiful Creature.
To me might be in love expresses the best qualities of Juliana’s
music. That same year Beautiful Creature was
released Juliana released an EP called Total System Failure. Which from my own perceptive goes in a
completely different direction. The EP has been compared to the sound of
Chrissie Hynde.
