Body of work

I am indifferent to most movies and directors and I do think that most movies are made only to appeal to the mainstream and are only considered with making money.   As someone who thinks and feels a need to create something I do not understand it.   My thinking on this is just to create something because I need to bring this to life as: Henry Rollins said on Joe Rogan’s podcast.   I admire that even when Quentin Tarantino made his first movie Reservoir Dogs that Quentin “they will not let you do that: and his thinking was who is “they?   Supposedly in the 1980s it was the decide of “they” won’t let you do that: so that thinking is already is a self-defending prophecy.   When Quentin refers or talks about the magic of cinema I do not understand but I am willing to listen I want to listen and understand.   When he talks about a road show for instance I want to learn because I am  curious and I do not understand it.   But for example: I maybe indifferent to most and every movie but with Quentin I look forward to everyone of his movies when they come out.   Until I saw The Hateful 8 which was the only movie I was looking forward to that year.   I was extremely disappointed and now I never look forward to a movie.   But when Quentin talks about the death of cinema that is what I  am curious.   When the script of The Hateful 8 was leaked on online he talked about the power and magic of movies which I would be interested Or is the road show better then the version of what I saw?   But the point is I am willing to always learn and discover.   I admire that Quentin refuses “Cancel Culture” that his last movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood:  the criticism  of not only his depiction of Sharon Tate and the portrayal of Bruce Lee.   Now I had never heard of Gene Lebell until I  was listening to The Ross Report with Jim Ross with Mike Tenay which is a 2-part interview:   JR said those who are unaware should google Gene Lebell who was known as: Judeo Gene Lebell who was now at that time during the interview being known as: Ronda Rousey's timekeeper.   Also people can not just google anything on the internet and learn anything.   Everyone needs experience and not just information which I think is a huge problem people think because they have access to information that makes them an expert.   I am not sure how it was when Dave Melzer first began the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in 1981 I am not sure if he had pen pals or whatever and he believes that it was beneficial to the business I do not understand it that is for sure.   But Dave said in an interview: “that the smartest people in wrestling always gravitated towards me and the ones who didn’t were the ones most easily manipulated”.   That the ones who did not understand what he was doing just thought oh he is just exposing the business and that they were just missing the entire point because Dave Melzer always looked at professional wrestling as a business.   Side Note: the reason I did not put quotes around it I listened to it many times but I did not want to miss quote.   Jim Cornete was reading the TV guide and he had pen pal named Norman Weasel Dooley and Weasel was going into such detail about what he liked about matches in professional wrestling after reading the TV Guide he thought something to the effect of you  should rate this it was a rib.   Dave Melzer was one of his pen pals and he popularized a ratings system.   A few years ago that five-star rating system was broken after a Kenny Omega match Kenny Omega’s matches were supposedly so great that it changed the scale and according to Dave Meltzer the first match he gave five stars was a house show match between The Nature Boy Ric Flair Versus The Dragon Ricky Steamboat in 1989.   But during those series of matches the fans were emotional invested in who the talent are : which is not the case anymore now some many of the younger talent are only performing for that critical review that is the only way they are evaluating their performance.   For example: when Al Snow first broke into the business at 18 years old 38 years ago the only question that was  asked was what was the house?   Now the only question being asked did you see my match?   It did not matter how good the matches were if there was a large attendance because they realized that if  the matches were not good that talent would not be on the card.   Now the younger talent have not been taught what the concept of the art-form is.   I think this is the first generation who do not want to listen to the veterans they want to change and evolve it.   Or they believe that they are above the business to do that silly wrestling.   If this happened in a previous generations during the territory  system the promoter would have thrown them out of the territory because that promoter did not want them to ruin their business.   For example: Jim Ross critiqued a spot where the talent would stand outside of the ring and wait for them to catch them and that no one wins with it.   JR was accused of burring  the talent in AEW.   Instead of learning and listening to someone who has 40 years’ experience they say something to the effect of we have not being taught this.   Never that I know of have the talent in the industry believed that they knew more than the veterans.   The talent such as: Chris Jericho Matt Hardy and Christan Cage should not try to fit in with what the younger generation who are for the most part only looking for an opportunity but Chris Jericho has been accused of being in midlife criticize for 25 years.   I do not believe so I think he wants to fit in and do these cinematic matches and the silly comedy.   One of the things I have always admired: both Chris Jericho and The Undertaker they have always reinvent themselves during their runs.   The difference now both of them never tried to fit in and latch on to what the younger talent were doing now Jericho is just trying to fit in with the Young Bucks I am not sure if that has ever happened.   A territory always brought in veterans to help bring the younger talent help get to their level not the other way around.   According to Dave Melzer the matches and performances are much better than they have been in the past but the business is not gaining new younger fans the only fans who watch AEW are the fanatics  and they are fanatics the ones who enjoy the comedy and the silliness.   For example: Chris Jericho is a big fan of Spiral Tap I have never seen any of it but I think he believes this to be funny and no one takes any of this seriously.   A lot of fans are missing out on the concept and magic of what professional wrestling is they have not been taught or seen it being performed properly.   Henry Rollins said something performing in England “That none of you are stupid you see how shallow life is get in line get a job so you can get more food and to realize your full potential is more then you will ever know that it is incredible.    He also said  something also on Joe Rogan’s podcast is “I have no place else to go.   Dave Melzer also said something that I competly  disagree  “Before the mentality of the talent was fans  are suckers and we’ll do what ever it is to just take their money and run alone”.   But the matches are not better they maybe more athletic but the emotion and the feeling of wanting one good guy to win and the other guy to lose is not there. There is no belief in the personalities which drew me  in when I first began getting into professional wrestling I was drawn in by the conflicts and the personalities I still am not concerned with how good the matches are.   But now the younger talent are only performing for Dave Melzer’s critical review which Dave explained that his scale is an invented star system.   Jim Cornete was on phone with Weasel Dooley looking for something to watch and Weasel is going into such detail about what he likes in a match he is saying you should rate these matches just like they do with the movies it was a rib.   It has been a long time since I have hated a wrestler I really hate him and I am not being drawn in by his “character:  like my dad or brother  have said. I  remember watching Impact on Pop with my brother and Moose turned on his best friend Eddie Edwards and joined Austin Aries and Killer Kross.   Moose speared Eddie during a match and Kross did a T-bone or an exploder Supplex on the floor and I said something like won’t don’t they go backstage and do so and so and my brother said you are just doing what they want you to do I was just reacting to what I was seeing and in the moment I truly hate Kenny Omega because I do not think he respects the business and I  think he thinks this is all a joke which I  think most of the younger talent believe and I am truly embarrassed by AEW I have been critical of the WWE system but it works some have realized that being in the WWE was not their dream and they were fractured souls because they have been stifled.   Triple H has redeemed himself by what he has done with the WWE’s developmental system NXT.   But with Kenny Omega he is a self in titled prick: when JR was asked his opinion on who he thought was the best wrestler right now he said a lot of fans would say Kenny Omega and I would  not argue with them but in his opinion the best right now is Randy Orton and Kenny Omega said something such as like someone who does not know who the WWE champion is attacking their lead announcer.   Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho started a # I stand with Omega.   Also Chris Jericho said that anyone who did not like “Stadium Stamped match that they did not have a soul.   The point AEW is not growing but they do have a niche audience.   But to say like Dave Melzer that Jim Cornete:  does not understand modern wrestling is ridiculous  I have learned so much about what is intrinsic to professional wrestling by listening and reading Jim Cornete which before that I had never been exposed to that point of view.   Side Note: A must read is on Jim Cornete.com Cornete Commentary  called CHARACTER ACTORS.   Eddie Trunk who I greatly respect for sharing his love for hard rock and heavy metal and  never cared what others have thought has said that it is so easy for fans to find out what there favorite musicans and bands are doing but I can say from my own experience that is not true the only way I have been able to keep up with musicans and band that I love is by singing up for newsletters.   I am also not a fan of Rotten Tomatoes because people are just going by how many stars movies are getting.   I hope people are not making movies just for a critical review and they are not doing it for the art of it.   Or Dave Melzer saying the Young Bunks are the modern day Midnight Express that is definitely not true I know that just by reading the 25th anniversary scrapbook on The Midnight Express: or Chris Jericho saying that  if Jim Cornete would just sell out everything he believes AEW would give a consultant’s job and JC does not want make money like that and then Dave Meltzer countered and said no you should not hire him you should hire Mike Tenay because Mike and Dave Meltzer have been friends since the 1970s I know Mike Tenay started an insider wrestling newsletter when he was a kid but JC thinks Mike would have the same opinion on AEW just by the conversations they had during the TNA tapings I really do believe the people who go back and follow the Wrestling Observer Newsletter are truly missing out on the magic of what professional wrestling is but unfortunaly they do not realize it.   I am not just a fan of professional wrestling I am a mark for it even though the term “mark” has become a derogatory term because the “smart “marks now think that they  are too smart to buy into it.   For example: I brought into and still believe in Kane as: The Undertaker’s brother how he was burned in a fire and they thought he was dead but Paul Bearer who worked at the funeral home saved Kane from the fire: when Kane took his mask off that mystique was lost but here is what is special it still draws me.   The business truly has never changed but unfortunaly many on the internet will never realize it..   I read a comment while watching Impact on Twitch that Kayfabe is dead that Kayfabe died in 1997.   Also I read a comment on Youtube with Don Callis on The Wrestling Observer Live who says Kayfabe is  dead and someone replied wrestling fans a lot fans think "Kayfabe" is not breaking character but "Kayfabe" has nothing to do with not breaking character or "smarting people up "Kayfabe" was and is a code word which was respect for both the wrestlers and the fans: I know that goes contrary to the WWE's philosophy  to the business and those who read professional wrestling insider newsletters but it all had to do with respect for both fans and talent.
