#16 part 1

This is the first section of the 16th section
One of the
vice presidents of Impact also color commentator for New Japan pro wrestling said something that I think is an important destination and that is much of the newer generation views the product more of just a performance art where fans chant fight forever and this is Impact where everyone is in on the joke and they all shake hands.   That is the wrong way to go about it because the fans are losing the ora and the mystique that made professional wrestling speical in the past.   I think this is spot on I know that many fans and journalist will disagree with me but I am a true believer that old school will never die.   New Japan commentator Kevin Kelly said something similar to Don’s point that the philosophy of fans being in on “the joke” is very short sided.    Which again is counterintuitive to what fans and talent have been taught but my point here it should not be counterintuitive.   The philosophy of fans being in on the joke does work in the WWE but I am not concerned with the WWE.   I am referring to New Japan Impact etc.   It needs to be instilled because fans will not be conditioned to talent performing unnecessary stunts is  the most  import reason.   The second reason it just makes a better product.   I used the term performance art to describe professional wrestling earlier.    I used the term because Andy Kaufman described himself as a performance artist.   Andy also happened to be a huge fan.
