Hang your lighter in the air

Hang your lighter in the air and lead me back home lyrics from Halestorm’s break in.   I think this song is about non judgement or how the fans view the performers that after the light goes back on the fans want to meet the performers because they have reached something inside of you I mean that in the most postive way.   Maybe the lighter is a show of community or to put in context  to Halestorm a freak  as us.   I am a huge fan and supporter of Impact Knockout Rosemary I am part of the hive.   I read a study on the postiveity of listening to heavy metal which concluded that one of the benefits of listening to heavy metal fans feel they are a part of a community.   I consider myself to be a fan of what I consider to be hard rock and not metal.   I feel the same way being a fan of professional wrestling sometimes it may not feel that way because fans are so divided on what they love.   I have to remind myself that  it is a case of them being so passionate and God bless them for that.   I feel that professional wrestling is sort of a secret society that people who are not fans do not get but there is a bond  there.   Every fan has different aspects that they love which is awesome again I have to remind myself that it is just a case of fans being so passionate.   I guess I can not have it both ways so I am going to let it be.   Imagine if you grew up in the late 1980s listening to Winger Lita Ford Bon Jovi etc.   If you grew up in the early to late 1990s listening to Peral Jam The Stone Temple Pilots Alice in Chains etc.   The hard rock of the late 1980s was being distorted and the term hair metal was being used meaning those musicans and bands were style over substance or the fashion was more important than the quality of the music.   But the point is they are both fans of hard rock both of the genres  were competly different they had a different mood and style.   I wonder if anyone looks at that era and says grunge and alternative rock was just fannel  t-shrits where they intentionally messed themselves up but they do  that with the previous era.   Basically in the Halestorm’s song break in Lizzy is signing that even when the lights go up with all of her flaws the fans do not see them because they are so engrossed into the music so they reach out to meet them and the performer does the exact same because they are usually misunderstood but they gained that connection it is a community.   That is one of the best feelings in the world and the best part it will never ever leave them.
